The Practicum Supervisor will oversee 25 students enrolled in practicum placements across elementary middle and secondary schools for eight weeks.

Responsibilities include communicating with teacher candidates school principals and associate teachers conducting school visits and collaborating with associate teachers to document and evaluate the practicum experience.

Requirements:

  • Experience as an educational leader and as a mentor for teacher candidates
  • Deep knowledge of the OCT Standards of Practice and the Ethical Standards of the Teaching Profession
  • The capacity to provide regular and ongoing support to teacher candidates who for many and varied reasons have needed an alternate practicum experience
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • The ability to coordinate their own transportation to visit teacher candidates in their practicum schools

Additional Information and/or Comments:

Supervision of practicum is required in all four school boards in the Ottawa/Carleton and Eastern Ontario area. Faculty Supervisor provides support to associate teachers and teacher candidates.

An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
