Job Duties
The Office of the Attorney General is seeking a Director of Crime Reduction Initiatives to lead a statewide multi-disciplinary strategy dedicated to reducing firearm violence and breaking cycles of recidivism. Operating within the Executive Divisions Programs and Outreach Section the Director serves as the primary driver for the states evidence-based approach to public safety centering on community-led prevention and rigorous data-driven interventions.
Work Tasks and Duties:
The Director spearheads the development of meaningful engagement strategies that treat community members as equal partners in public safety. This involves moving beyond traditional outreach for those most impacted by firearm violence ensuring that local expertise and lived experiences inform the initiatives strategic direction and build long-term institutional trust.
The Director ensures that the initiatives operational framework is robust and capable of adapting to the evolving landscape of firearm violence and community safety needs. This involves a strategic evaluation of data-driven practices and research methodologies to identify and implement interventions that effectively reduce violent crime and support long-term prevention.
The Director oversees the development and execution of various community and law enforcement engagements. This encompasses organizing public safety briefings coordinating re-entry resource fairs facilitating trauma-informed training sessions and conducting multi-agency intelligence-sharing meetings to strengthen community partnerships and enhance the collective response to systemic violence.
The Directors role involves streamlining internal data collection processes and embracing technological advancements to enhance the analysis of crime trends. By identifying inefficiencies and implementing evidence-based solutions the Director aims to improve workflow and operational effectiveness while leading a specialized team of research re-entry and community outreach experts.
The Directors position is one that demands a strategic vision exceptional leadership qualities and a proactive approach to operational management. Success in this role is measured by the ability to create a dynamic operational environment capable of addressing the challenges of crime reduction alongside improving internal efficiencies and fostering strong stakeholder relationships.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Candidates should have demonstrated computer proficiency with word processing (Microsoft products preferred).
Additional Considerations
A related degree in is preferred; however an equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for educational criteria.
