Description

Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS) the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSSrelated work Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada by Canadians.

The Intern Contracts & Commercial will be responsible for supporting the development implementation and enhancement of tools and processes that help protect and manage Seaspans intellectual property across multiple shipbuilding programs. This role requires strong technical capabilities particularly in software development Power Apps and data management to support the evolution of Seaspans internal IP tracking tools and contribute to broader IP compliance efforts.

This position is an excellent opportunity to improve your skills by working closely with Specialists and under the guidance of department Intern will gain valuable experience in developing processes tools and resources that will be applied across Vancouver Shipyards (VSY) shipbuilding programs. The Intern will be directly involved with projects relating to VSYs Intellectual Property strategy andContractual Compliance.

Note: Due to business needs this position is required to be fully on-site based at2 Pemberton Avenue North Vancouver.

What youll do

  • Assist with implementing remediation projects including review and clean up initiatives.
  • Supervising and reviewing intellectual property statements on VSY deliverables.
  • Supervising VSY deliverables and updating their intellectual property status.
  • Assist with preparation of training materials scheduling training sessions and associated meetings.
  • Tracking files and maintaining accurate records for compliance and audit purposes.
  • Support/collaborate on the ongoing development and enhancement of our IP App.
  • Troubleshoot tool issues support users and respond to ad hoc IP support requests.
  • Help document technical changes process workflows and system enhancements related to IPMT.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (engineering legal compliance security) to ensure IP data and processes are accurate and up to date.

What youll bring

  • Enrollment in the 3rd or 4th year of a relevant degree program such as Business Computer Science Software Engineering or Pre-Law degree program.
  • Must be able to secure a Canadian Government (CISD) Personal Security Clearance.
  • Ability to communicate optimally and efficiently both in writing and in person.
  • Experience withPower Apps Power Automate or similar low-code development platforms.
  • Excellent digital literacy including Excel/Word/PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task prioritize and problem solve.
  • Proven initiative creativity and integrity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good judgment and reasoning skills.

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $26.00/hour.

Start Date of Internship: Monday May 4th 2026.

End Date of Internship: Friday August 28th 2026 (4-Months).
