Job Summary
This is moderately complex technical field work involving the inspection care and maintenance of trees in municipal parks greenbelts or other City properties. Reporting to the Urban Forestry Supervisor an incumbent of this class inspects prunes climbs plants and removes trees deals with the public regarding complaints or inquiries relating to tree matters provides information and assistance to internal and external contacts regarding municipal or community tree matters and directs the work of contractors engaged in urban forest maintenance tasks. Work is performed under general supervision and the incumbent exercises considerable independence of judgement and action in technical areas of the work. Unusual matters or more complex problems are referred to a supervisor who reviews work performance in terms of effectiveness of services rendered and conformance with established policies.
The Training Manual Requirements pre-qualifications for this position are:
- Completion of (2) two year diploma program in forestry arboriculture or horticulture from a recognized post secondary institution
- Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) Course
The Class Specification requires a Drivers Licence for the Province of British Columbia Class 5 a Certification as an Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture and are job requirements.
