Job Summary
A reputable educational organization in Lovettsville Virginia is seeking a dedicated Special Education (SPED) Teacher Assistant or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to support elementary students in a special education classroom. This role focuses on working with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder providing individualized behavioral and instructional support to promote academic social and emotional development.
Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one and small-group instructional support to students with special needs
Implement behavior intervention plans and instructional strategies under the guidance of the supervising teacher and behavioral team
Support students displaying challenging behaviors using positive evidence-based behavior support techniques
Assist with classroom instruction transitions and daily routines
Collect track and document behavioral and academic data as required
Collaborate with teachers therapists and support staff to ensure consistent implementation of student support plans
Maintain a safe structured and supportive classroom environment
Qualifications
Prior experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder preferred
Advanced behavior training required
Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Ability to manage challenging behaviors using evidence-based practices
Strong communication skills patience and a collaborative team-oriented mindset
