Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer will support the ESDoc project within the Electrical Safety Section focusing on updating and harmonising CERN electrical safety rules technical instructions and conformity documentation. The role includes analysing existing French-speaking documents addressing gaps integrating updates from French and Swiss standards and contributing to a unified and modernised safety framework.

Your responsibilities:

  • Update draft and consolidate electrical safety documentation within the ESDoc project including instructions procedures and conformity requirements.
  • Review existing CERN electrical safety documents to identify gaps inconsistencies and outdated content.
  • Integrate NF C 15-100:2024 requirements and ensure alignment with ESP-HSE cluster documentation.
  • Coordinate with electrical technical stakeholders to collect input validate content and ensure operational relevance.
  • Support the development of standardised document structures templates and terminology.
  • Prepare materials supporting electrical safety awareness activities.
  • Maintain document traceability revision control and EDMS structure.
  • Contribute to project tracking reporting and follow up activities.

  • Experience drafting or reviewing technical documentation procedures or engineering standards in an academic industrial or project environment.
  • Exposure to electrical engineering topics such as installation principles safety fundamentals or conformity assessment through studies internships or project work.
  • Experience with photovoltaics is an asset.
  • Familiarity with technical standards and regulations such as NF-Cand IEC/EN standards including their interpretation.
  • Experience preparing structured written materials such as reports technical summaries or project documentation.
  • Involvement in multidisciplinary technical projects requiring coordination and consolidation of inputs from multiple contributors.

Skills:

  • Strong ability to analyse and structure technical documentation including safety rules instructions and procedures.
  • Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles particularly low voltage installations and electrical safety concepts.
  • Ability to interpret and consolidate complex technical information into clear and coherent documentation.
  • High attention to detail with a strong quality and consistency focus.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary technical teams and gather input from multiple stakeholders.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently on parallel tasks within a structured project framework.
  • Spoken and written French with a commitment to learn English.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • You have a professional background in Electrical Engineering (or a related field) and have either:
    • a Masters degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;
    • or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.

Additional Information :

Job closing date: 04.03.2026 at 23:59 CET.

Contract duration: 24 months with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

Working hours: 40 hours per week

Job flexibility: Hybrid

Target start date: 01-June-2026
