Job Summary

Terms of Employment: Permanent 12 Month Position

Nature of Work

Candidate will work under general supervision perform semi-skilled electrical tasks in an effort to ensure a safe environment for students and staff. This position will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and Director of Maintenance.

Qualifications and Licensure

High school diploma or equivalents and
5 years job experience related to nature of work and or
Equivalent combination of education and work experience
Possession of a valid North Carolina Drivers License
Must maintain a safe driving record
Knowledge of safety precautions and hazards associated with job

Duties and Responsibilities

Connects wiring to fixtures and power equipment; splices wires as required.
Checks and replaces faulty switches sockets and other simple elements of electrical systems such as lighting fixtures tubes and ballasts.
Inspects and tests electrical lighting signal communication and power circuits.
Isolates defects in wiring switches motors and other electrical equipment.
Measures cuts threads and installs electrical conduit.
Pulls wiring through conduit.
Prepare work orders
Assist other trades when needed
Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor

Physical Requirements (if applicable)

Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle
Requires the ability to climb and maneuver on ladders scaffolding and/or in tight spaces
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment
Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects

Special Requirements (if applicable)

Ability to use and care for tools and equipment
Ability to follow direction
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with building staff and associates
