Terms of Employment: Permanent 12 Month Position
Nature of Work
Candidate will work under general supervision perform semi-skilled electrical tasks in an effort to ensure a safe environment for students and staff. This position will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and Director of Maintenance.
Qualifications and Licensure
- High school diploma or equivalents and
- 5 years job experience related to nature of work and or
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Possession of a valid North Carolina Drivers License
- Must maintain a safe driving record
- Knowledge of safety precautions and hazards associated with job
Duties and Responsibilities
- Connects wiring to fixtures and power equipment; splices wires as required.
- Checks and replaces faulty switches sockets and other simple elements of electrical systems such as lighting fixtures tubes and ballasts.
- Inspects and tests electrical lighting signal communication and power circuits.
- Isolates defects in wiring switches motors and other electrical equipment.
- Measures cuts threads and installs electrical conduit.
- Pulls wiring through conduit.
- Prepare work orders
- Assist other trades when needed
- Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor
Physical Requirements (if applicable)
- Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle
- Requires the ability to climb and maneuver on ladders scaffolding and/or in tight spaces
- Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment
- Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
Special Requirements (if applicable)
- Ability to use and care for tools and equipment
- Ability to follow direction
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with building staff and associates
