1. Coordinate with other hospital departments and teams (e.g. Interventional Radiology Nephrology Surgical services Emergency Pharmacy and Cancer center) to optimize patient care and enhance vascular access services.
2. Conduct regular rounds on units to provide support to nursing patients and families and collaborate with provider and care team members.
3. Collect data with a focus on Infection Control (CLABSI prevention) and quality improvement work.
4. Assist with initiatives specific to vascular access improvements.
5. Support ongoing education and training related to vascular access nursing skills.
6. Maintain competency in placing USGIV Midlines PICC lines.
7. Insertion and management of inpatients ultrasound guided IVs midlines and PICC lines with ECG guidance.
8. Involvement in collegial collaboration to determine the best vascular access device based on the medications current health status diagnosis and length of IV therapy.
9. Review physicians orders.
10. Obtain informed consent.
11. Document completely and accurately in medical record.
12. Providing education and support to patients about proper care for the insertion site or catheter to avoid infection or other complications.
13. Provide education and teaching to staff on Vascular Access and best practice standards regarding care management and complications.
14. Removing access devices when they are no longer needed.
15. Maintaining inventory of supplies equipment and medications required for treatments or procedures.
16. Observing patients for signs of infection or other complications related to their vascular access device.
17. Providing emotional support to patients and their families during treatments or procedures.

II. Position Qualifications:

1. Registered Nurse
2. PICC certificationobtained during orientation
3. BLS

1. ICU or Critical care experience
Preferred:
1. Vascular Access Board certification (VA-BC certification)
2. Minimum of 1-year vascular access experience using ultrasound including PICC line insertion
3. ACLS
