Job Summary

  • Bachelors degree in forestry or related field or equivalent experience (preferred: degree plus 5 years relevant experience).
  • Strong commitment to safety with ability to promote and model a safe work environment.
  • Proficiency in negotiation performance evaluation using cost/volume/quality data and understanding of raw material quality specifications.
  • Knowledge of safety environmental labor and transportation regulations applicable to harvesting operations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and other software applications valid drivers license and ability to safely navigate active harvesting sites.

What We Offer

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program and we are targeting a salary range of$49379 - $102556 based on your level of skills qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our companys 401k plan which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of addition after being employed for six months eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year providing a total of 88 holiday hours.

This role is part of Weyerhaeusers Southern Timberlands business and reports to the North Carolina Area Wood Flow Manager. Based in Vanceboro NC the Harvest Manager is responsible for planning and overseeing harvesting operations across the Carolina Virginia Region. The position requires extensive fieldwork and significant travel to logging sites to ensure safe efficient and sustainable wood flow. Key responsibilities include coordinating contractors monitoring compliance with environmental and safety standards and optimizing harvest schedules to meet business objectives.

Key Functions:

  • Administer harvesting contracts and implement transportation strategies to meet planned volumes and market commitments.
  • Conduct on-site verification of harvest plans and supervise harvesting operations for safety and efficiency.
  • Negotiate harvesting contracts and monitor contractor performance addressing noncompliance issues as needed.
  • Ensure contractor adherence to safety and environmental standards while maintaining quality in thinning operations.
  • Optimize product merchandizing and utilization and maintain timely updates in operational systems.
  • Manage logging road maintenance activities and support Wood Flow Marketing Silviculture and Planning teams in achieving annual objectives.
