Holyoke Public Schools is a PreK-12 public school district serving nearly 4800 students of whom 80 percent are Latino/Latina in 11 schools. - A comprehensive approach to early literacy that includes strong core instruction and one-on-one tutoring contributing to more students reading at grade level
- A thriving dual language English/Spanish program where nearly 900 students are on their path to becoming bilingual biliterate and bicultural
- More than one-third of Holyoke teachers identify as people of color a 19-point increase over 10 years. Many partnership programs support staff to earn licensure or additional certification.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Facilities/Maintenance Specialist is responsible for providing the Facilities Department services of a Facilities Support and also having the skills of a craftsman. This position provides a wide variety of opportunities in maintaining and delivering service to schools and their facilities and will be asked to perform in both aspects of the department.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Operations
Expected to assist with all aspects of support at schools and the central supply warehouse including but not limited to:
Assists the Facilities and Maintenance Department in various jobs that include (Facilities) the custodial duties at Central Supply opening and securing Central Supply. (Maintenance) Carpentry Painting Minor Plumbing Sheetrock Installation Window and Door Repairs and the following duties listed below:
- Landscaping and grounds care
- Repair of buildings and facilities including in some cases assisting with the craftsman work where applicable
- Moving furniture materials or any other items
- Special projects as assigned by the Facilities Director or Designee
- Custodial and general maintenance duties
- Whenever applicable assist with the help desk ticket system
- Fill in for custodians when needed
- Fill in for mail and delivery service when needed
- Balance multiple projects and deadlines at once across all schools
- All other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager and/or his/her designee
Communication
- Collaborates with internal and external personnel with discretion professionalism and tact on special requests
- Will adhere to the Holyoke Public Schools customer service standards
- Regularly respond to email and phone in a timely fashion
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent rapport with all levels of management established communication skills
- Will be required to work a flexible schedule throughout the year in order to complete jobs that may require work to be done while students are not present
- Must have the physical ability to carry out the primary functions of the job
- Knowledge of facilities and custodial maintenance
- The ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Experience managing projects with multiple deadlines and across departments
