Summary
Why its a great opportunity:In this position you will be performing entry level engineering work with several other engineers as a project team member providing project support as a bridge inspector performing Federally required bridge inspections per the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS). You will support projects from start to finish designing various structure types generating estimates and maintaining schedules while coordinating with other County divisions.

How to be successful in the role:Your success will come from timely project support and project completion. You will be expected to utilize software such as Word Excel Microsoft Project Bluebeam and GIS. Highly effective communication with other Planning and Public Works teams municipalities and team members is necessary to build your success. The projects you support ensure critical transportation infrastructure is functional and available for Pierce County residents.

Core daily responsibilities:
- Performs layout drafting and design work on a variety of routine civil engineering projects utilizing computer programs.
- Designs and/or prepares contract plans for capital improvement projects.
- Prepares and reviews comprehensive engineering plans reports studies and related documents.
- Prepares or contributes to engineering technical reports or studies such as traffic hydrology hydraulic or geotechnical reviews calculations or routine work of others.
- Inspects bridges and structures for compliance with NBIS established inspection programs and prepares appropriate inspection reports.

Minimum Qualifications
- A resume is required for this position.
- A valid drivers license is required of the position.
- Four years of progressively responsible broad-based civil engineering experience is required.
- Registration as an Engineer-in-Training or a bachelors degree from an ABET accredited program in civil engineering or closely related field may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
As a condition of employment the applicant will need to authorize and complete a background check. Information received from the background check is reviewed case-by-case and will not necessarily remove an applicant from consideration.
