Position Duties & Responsibilities
Position Duties and Responsibilities:Under general direction independently performs a variety of paraprofessional level human resources assignments in one ormore areas of the human resources function such as classification compensation benefits recruitment and selection affirmative action and equal employment opportunity reasonable accommodation training organizational development and/or labor relations in support of the human resources operations. Consults with and provides assistance to managers staff and the public regarding human resource issues. This is an exempt non-represented at-will position and is not exempt from FLSA.
- Interpret explain and apply institutional and other human resources rules policies regulations or procedures; assists in developing evaluating revising and implementing human resource services or programs policies and procedures
- Respond to inquiries and resolve problems in areas such as employment examinations benefits eligibility or calculations leave administration compensation and employee relations; recommends alternative courses of action
- Participate in employment/recruitment activities such as conducting screening interviews serving on screening committees administering and scoring employment examinations notifying applicants of results representing the institution in job fairs and other outreach activities
- Review and ensure the accuracy and completeness of human resource documents such as leave and salary records benefits enrollment or claims forms and employee data forms. This will include spearheading the implementation of digitizing personnel files for BTC
- Prepare responses to unemployment workers compensation and/or group insurance claims
- Maintain confidential personnel and office files
- Prepare reports graphs charts and statistics required in support of the Human Resources Office using the information in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS); assist in formulation and implementation of internal office procedures; maintain confidential personnel and office files
- Prepare human resource documents and enter into the HRIS System; establish and maintain human resource records: layoff lists leave records classification specifications and position descriptions hiring notices and other documentation
- Conduct training and/or orientation in human resource rules and institutional policies and procedures; conduct hazardous communication and other mandatory training
- Prepare and monitor the HR Budget; prepare reports from the budget including cost of advertising by position training costs travel and the like
- As requested provide information concerning college and other human resources rules and benefits
- Update and maintain all employee handbooks and college policy/procedures manuals assigned to the HR Office
- May direct and review the work of assigned support staff
- Perform confidential administrative assistant work as required in support of the Director of Human Resources
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Ability to commute to all buildings on campus
Minimum Qualifications:
- Background Check: Prior to final hire a pre-employment background including criminal history will be conducted
- A bachelors degree in business human resources accounting social or organizational behavioral sciences or related field
AND
- two years of professional human resources experience
OR
- Equivalent education/experience such as six years of employment in Human Resources office work or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two plus years of experience working in HR in higher education
- Experience with HRIS such as ctcLink or PeopleSoft
- HR Certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR
Physical Work Environment:- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Varying from 4-7 hours per day.
- This position interacts directly and frequently with faculty staff students and the general public.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
Supplemental Information
Salary: $68000-$78000 annual
Work schedule: Generally the schedule is Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Candidate must be willing to work on-site for all of their schedule.
