Job Summary

  • Full-time appointment on a fixed term basis for one year.
  • Base salary range: Level B $118150 $139812 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The School of Engineering is a multidisciplinary school offering education and research in a number of engineering disciplines including biomedical civil environmental mining chemical mechanical electrical and electronic and automation robotics. The School of Engineering has an established and dedicated team of teaching and research academics providing undergraduate and post-graduate programmes across multiple engineering research the School also spans a wide range of engineering disciplines with groups often comprising transdisciplinary researchers who work with industry to produce outcomes with impact.

The Department of Chemical Engineering has a strong track record in Energy. It hosts the Centre for Energy and enjoys a strong link to the Future Energy Exports Cooperative Research Centre (FEnEx CRC). It is also one of the Western nodes for the ARC Centre of Excellence for Carbon Science and Innovation. The Department also enjoys a strong track record in commercialisation having spun off Hazer Group Ltd. Gas Capture Technologies Ablano Pty. Ltd. and Jovian Tech Pty. Ltd. Another key feature of the Department is its strong links to the Chemical Engineering Industry with its operation and practice being strongly informed by its active and well-represented Industry Advisory Panel.

About the opportunity

  • Teach Gas Processing Technologies and Process Simulation (including Aspen HYSYS/dynamic simulation) support UG/PG course design and delivery supervise students and develop innovative/AI-assisted teaching materials.
  • Conduct high-impact research aligned with UWA strengths publish and seek funding build collaborations with industry and academic partners and attract HDR students and postdocs.
  • Contribute to governance administration and school activities represent UWA externally and support inclusive high-quality teaching research and professional practice standards.

About you

  • A Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering and a PhD in Chemical Engineering or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to deliver innovative teaching at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levelin the areas listed above.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering authentic assessment opportunities in coursework units informed byindustry-sponsored research or consulting activities where possible/practical.
  • A demonstrable track record (relative to opportunity) of excellence in research with impact that compliments nationally or internationally recognised research areas at UWA.
  • A demonstrable emerging track record of successful competitive funding application.
  • Demonstrated evidence of successful supervision or co-supervision of HDR students relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to positively contribute to the school and wider University activities such as graduations open days school meetings strategic planning outreach/community engagement and program development.
