Data & Assessment Department:
The Data Department is central to the schools academic monitoring assessment processes strategic planning and performance evaluation. It provides crucial information that informs teaching adjustments intervention programmes parental communication and school improvement priorities. As the Data Officer you will work closely with senior leaders teachers pastoral staff exam officers and administrative teams.
Your responsibilities will include managing the schools MIS systems (Arbor/SIMS/Bromcom) producing high-quality data analysis reports coordinating assessment windows maintaining accurate student data records tracking attendance and performance trends supporting examination analysis and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. You will also handle census submissions timetable data and data linked to safeguarding behaviour and interventions.
Daily tasks may include:
Updating student information attendance data class lists and assessment marks.
Producing detailed reports for Heads of Department senior leaders and governors.
Creating monitoring spreadsheets dashboards and performance breakdowns.
Supporting teachers with data entry and ensuring accuracy.
Running data checks before major reporting cycles.
Managing statutory data returns including the School Census.
Supporting exam analysis following results days.
Ensuring GDPR compliance and secure data storage.
Troubleshooting system issues and liaising with MIS providers.
Providing training to staff on data systems and reporting tools.
The Data Department operates in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are crucial. Accuracy confidentiality and efficiency are essential. You will play a vital role in supporting school leaders to identify trends evaluate interventions and ensure that every students learning journey is tracked effectively.
Requirements:
Strong experience in data management ideally within a school environment.
Excellent analytical skills and experience producing data reports.
High proficiency with MIS systems (SIMS Arbor Bromcom or similar).
Strong Excel skills including formulas pivot tables and data visualisation.
Excellent organisational ability and meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
