Description

The Senior Perinatal Sonographer will perform a variety of complex detailed obstetrical exams and guidance for procedures providing high quality imaging for interpretation and diagnosis by a Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician/Interventionalist.

The Nemours Fetal Care Center and Advanced Delivery Unit is expanding the scope of service to include comprehensive prenatal obstetrical and postpartum care for women whose unborn fetus has been diagnosed with a birth defect or complex medical condition that will require immediate multidisciplinary pediatric care in the neonatal addition to currently available prenatal imaging to diagnose these conditions we are also expanding invasive diagnostics and fetal intervention procedures.

Essential Functions:

  1. As part of a multidisciplinary team the Perinatal Sonographer guided by established AIUM and department protocols clinical assessment and patients medical history obtains high quality comprehensive imaging studies and effectively communicates findings to the Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician.

  2. Able to identify normal from abnormal ultrasound images and holds knowledge of various fetal anomalies including CDH CPAM TTTS CHD gastroschisis etc.

  3. Perform ultrasound guidance for minor invasive procedures including amniocentesis CVS vesicocentesis thoracentesis fetal fluid drainage etc.

  4. Demonstrate proficient skills in 2D 3D Doppler and Color Doppler imaging.

  5. Proficient operation of ultrasound equipment using correct parameters based on gestational age and diagnosis.

  6. Demonstrate proficient skills in advanced 3D imaging and rendering.

  7. Calculate measurements formulas and ratios with correct annotations and enter into PACS reporting system.

  8. Provide outstanding patient care with consideration of diagnosis and psychosocial support.

  9. Participate in research studies as requested.

  10. Participates in program Quality Improvement projects.

  11. Completes reports and medical records in a timely fashion.

  12. Assist in teaching and guiding learners in the perinatal unit.

  13. Attend weekly ADP clinical case review.

  14. Participate in multidisciplinary huddles for interventional cases.

  15. Additional miscellaneous responsibilities as assigned from leadership.

Job Requirements:

  • Associates degree required

  • ARDMS registered is required.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified through American Heart Association certification is required (prior to start date).
  • Minimum five (5) years of maternal fetal medicine sonography experience is required
