JOB OBJECTIVE:

This faculty position supports the Architectural Design Technology program by delivering high-quality instruction laboratory/studio experiences and instructional materials that promote student learning and achievement of established outcomes. The role emphasizes curriculum development and continuous improvement aligned with industry standards; active participation in professional development institutional service and program assessment; collaboration with faculty staff industry partners and advisory boards; engagement in accreditation and grant-related activities; support for student access and workforce development; shared responsibility for the operation and upkeep of classrooms laboratories and equipment; and active involvement in student recruitment and community outreach in support of the Colleges mission.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

50% A. Create instructional materials and laboratory/studio experiences and teach courses at a variety oftimes in response to institutional needs evaluate students progress toward achievement of stated student learning outcomes and inform them in a timely manner of their progress in the course contribute to management of labs and equipment develop or update course syllabi for courses within the college guideline and curriculum as necessary to remain current with the industry reviews evaluates and recommends student learning materials.

20% B. Responsible for professional development and institutional service as determined in consultation with the Department Head. Work with other faculty staff and local industries and organizations to continually refine and improve the Architectural Design Technology program. Such duties to beperformed include: developing new course materials or courses as required to maintain program currency in emerging technologies in the field of Architectural Design Technology and thedevelopment of course work associated with it; completing assessment requirements relative to the program; engaging members of an active advisory board; participate in evaluating and preparing articulation agreements and prior learning assessments.

10% C. Provides access to students through posted office hours electronic communication and other appropriate methods serve on internal and external committees for the College and the community at large. Work with Workforce and Community Development department to develop workforce solutions within the area of Architectural Design Technology.

10% D. Involvement in assessment and ATMAE accreditation process writing grant proposals related to program goals and objectives as well as participating in grant activities

5% E. Share responsibility for day-to-day operation and routine upkeep of classrooms labs andequipment. Perform related duties as assigned.

5% F. Recruitment of new students. Along with other duties as assigned.

JOB STANDARDS:

Minimum Faculty Qualifications

  1. Bachelors Degree in Architecture or closely related area from a regionally accredited institution.

  2. A minimum of one year of teaching experience at the college level.

Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full-time work experience

  1. Demonstrated proficiency with industry-standard software including AutoCAD Revit SketchUp Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and Microsoft Office Suite.

  2. Pellissippi State Community College recognizes that the ability to communicate effectively is an essential skill for all academic personnel to perform competently. To ensure that all faculty are proficient in oral and written English the following requirements are to be used during the selection process to evaluate candidates:
    a. Ability to speak and write English clearly;
    b. Ability to understand written and spoken English; and
    c. Ability to communicate effectively in an academic environment (for example previous successful employment in an academic institution.

Preferred Faculty Qualifications

  1. Relevant industry experience including research and development.

  2. Possession of or willingness to obtain and maintain industry-related certifications (e.g. LEED AP WELL PMP) and/or active affiliations with professional organizations relevant to the field (e.g. AIA ASID NAHB USGBC).

  3. Ability to teach selected courses within the Interior Design Technology program curriculum.

  4. Teaching experience across multiple instructional modalities including hybrid asynchronous online and synchronous online formats.

CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE/EXPERIENCE:

Broad current industry knowledge and practical applied experience in the field of Architectural Design are required along with the ability to translate this knowledge and skill set into meaningful learning experiences in classroom and laboratory/studio settings. Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to collaborate as a team member to support the overall goals of the Program and Department prepare students for the workplace and promote lifelong learning. A strong commitment to working with students and supporting their academic and professional success is essential. Faculty are also expected to continuously expand their knowledge and skills to remain current with evolving software equipment industry practices and technologies.
