West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) is the second largest fire and rescue service in England serving an area of 902km square and a population of over 2.9 million people.

Within WMFS we have a Sports and Welfare Fund (S&W) an independent membership organisation that works separately from the service to encourage sports social and recreational activities that support the health and wellbeing of its c3000 members. The fund is open to serving and retired staff for a monthly subscription.
This role is to be ultimately responsible for overseeing the financial affairs of the Sports and Welfare Fund to ensure they meet legal requirements and are within accepted accounting practices.You will be known as the Treasurer of the Sports and Welfare Fund. This is a busy role with many monthly transactions and bank accounts.
- processing payments invoices income and receipts and entering data into accounting software (Quickbooks) or databases then filing hard copies
- preparing monthly bank reconciliations(expenditure incoming vs outgoing)
- preparing quarterly VAT returns
- arranging or producing year-end accountsfor the accountants
- preparing an annual Budget Forecast for approval at the AGM
- recording any inconsistencies to help the accountants reconcile inaccuracies
- preparing annual Corporation Tax returns.
- experience in finances for businesses
- experienced in Quickbooks (accountancy software)
- accuracy and attention to detail
- computer literacy especially familiarity with Excel spreadsheets Office 365 and Sharepoint
