Overview

We are seeking an Architectural Historian to join our team in Atlanta GA.

Your role

  • Lead and conduct historic resource field surveys in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Perform background and archival research using primary and secondary sources.
  • Evaluate historic resources for eligibility and significance pursuant to local and state laws the National Register of Historic Places criteria and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA).
  • Conduct Section 106 effects assessments working closely with engineers and project teams to avoid minimize or mitigate impacts to historic properties.
  • Prepare highquality technical documentation-including survey reports evaluations of eligibility and effects findings-for review by State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPOs) federal agencies and other regulatory partners.
  • Maintain project schedules and ensure timely delivery of all project milestones.
  • Provide clear project status updates and serve as the primary point of contact for historic resource-related questions on assigned projects.
  • Participate in fieldwork and project site visits including occasional overnight travel. Most assignments will be in Georgia with some work in neighbouring states as needed.

About you

  • At a minimum must meet the Secretary of the Interiors Professional Qualification Standards for History or Architectural History including a degree in History Architectural History Historic Preservation or a closely related field.
  • 3-5 years of full-time professional experience as an Architectural Historian including conducting historic resource surveys and preparing Section 106 compliance documentation. General understanding of the following industries: transportation infrastructure state and local governments and/or regulatory/compliance.
  • Familiarity with reading engineering plans and ability to interpret technical drawings.
  • Strong writing interpersonal communication and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Position may require use of company vehicle. Applicant must have valid drivers license and a driving record that meets company policy.

Additional information

Expected compensation range is between $65800 - $78500 annually depending on skills experience and geographical location.
