Description of the Position:
Events Student Assistants are current students responsible for many activities related to the efficient operation of the College Events and Alumni and Parent Relations Offices during Commencement & Reunion Weekends. This includes but is not limited to engaging with guests and campus visitors event location set-up event support delivery of specialty items catering support office administration and miscellaneous projects as assigned. Work will begin on Thursday May 21 and conclude Sunday May 31; preference will be given to students who are available to work the duration of the position. Event Coordinators will work long and varied days between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and midnight (at times as late as 1:30 a.m.). Events Student Assistants will work 15-20 hours the first half week 25-30 hours the week of Memorial Day and 8-15 hours during Reunion Weekend for a total of 48-65 hours total. Hours will vary depending on the needs of the event. This position is not compatible with a live-in academic year Residence Life position that is ending nor is it compatible with full-time summer CURI work; it may be compatible with a part-time CURI position. Preference may be given to candidates with a valid drivers license though it is not required.
Priority Deadline for Applications is March 26 2026. Applications submitted after the priority deadline will be considered on a rolling basis. Interviews will commence in early April.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform customer service operations such as handling guest arrival & departure explaining procedures giving directions and reporting needs/concerns.
Set up and manage event spaces which could include but not limited to tables/chairs stages technology media equipment and signage.
Provide on-site support for programming which could include but not limited to check-in/registration receptions class meals presentations campus green activities crowd management and front desks in residence halls for alumni staying overnight.
Clean and prepare residence halls for guests before they arrive and after their departure.
Work with a variety of St. Olaf campus partners to assure the success of all events.
Serve as a resource person to Commencement and Reunion guests by providing them with information about St. Olaf College and the surrounding community.
Driving: Those who meet the St. Olaf fleet vehicle driving requirements will be asked to drive campus vehicles around campus and into Northfield.
This role requires lifting up to 25 lbs and standing for long periods of time.
Completing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)
Must be a current St. Olaf student in good academic and disciplinary standing. Previous experience in hospitality event management and/or technology and media is desired but not required. Ability to lift 25 lbs and stand for long periods of time. Preference may be given to candidates with a valid drivers license though it is not required. Preference will be given to students who are available to work the duration of the position. Applicants are subject to a Deans list/Title IX check and/or background check if necessary.
