Job Summary

Orthopedic Surgeon Joint Replacement (MD/DO)

Position Summary

The Orthopedic Joint Replacement Surgeon provides comprehensive surgical and non-surgical care for patients with degenerative and traumatic conditions affecting the hip knee and other major joints. This role focuses on primary and revision joint arthroplasty perioperative management and long-term functional outcomes working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team to deliver high-quality patient-centered care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage patients with degenerative joint disease arthritis and joint-related musculoskeletal conditions
  • Perform primary and revision joint replacement procedures including hip and knee arthroplasty consistent with training and privileges
  • Utilize minimally invasive robotic-assisted or advanced surgical techniques as appropriate
  • Provide non-operative management including injections physical therapy planning and medical optimization
  • Manage perioperative and postoperative care including complications and recovery planning
  • Participate in emergency and on-call orthopedic coverage as required
  • Interpret diagnostic studies including X-rays CT scans MRI and other imaging
  • Collaborate with anesthesiology hospitalists physical therapy nursing and case management teams
  • Educate patients regarding diagnosis treatment options surgical risks and expected outcomes
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Participate in quality improvement patient safety and outcomes initiatives
  • Supervise and educate residents fellows advanced practice providers or trainees as applicable
  • Comply with all regulatory accreditation and professional standards

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited orthopedic surgery residency program
  • Fellowship training in adult reconstruction or joint replacement surgery
  • Board-eligible or board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery
  • Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
  • DEA registration or eligibility

  • Ability to manage complex orthopedic cases and comorbid patients
  • Excellent communication and patient counseling abilities
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice quality improvement and patient safety

Work Environment

  • Hospital operating rooms outpatient clinics ambulatory surgery centers and inpatient units
  • Call coverage including nights weekends and holidays as required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods during surgical procedures
  • Manual dexterity and physical stamina for operative cases
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for operative and clinical care

Requirements

Must maintain state certification and/or licensure.

Must be legally licensed to practice medicine in North Dakota and/or Minnesota depending on the location of the practice to which you are assigned.
