Job Title: Summer Student Event Fellow
Department Name: College Events
Reports To: Assistant Director of Events & Conference Operations
Pay Rate: High-Level/Special Skills Hourly Rate ($15/hr)

Description of the Position:
Summer Student Event Fellows are current students responsible for the many activities related to efficiently operating the Colleges robust summer camps and conferences programming. This includes but is not limited to preparing residence halls rooms and campus spaces for guests running event registration & check-in providing camper safety support transportation services troubleshooting facility technology and catering support educating guests about St. Olaf and leading them through signature St. Olaf experiences one-on-one connections with camp and conference directors anticipating and executing event needs and additional projects and office duties as assigned. Work will begin on Thursday May 21 and conclude Friday August 21; preference will be given to students who are available to work the duration of the position. This is a full-time position with a daily schedule that varies; students will work an average of 32-40 hours per week. Students will work an average of 6 hours a day sometimes less sometimes more. Staff receive 1½ - 2 days off each week and vacations must be pre-approved during the summer. Staff must have a flexible schedule including weekend and evening hours. This position is not compatible with holding a second position or with attending summer school classes. Staff must live on campus in the housing provided for the duration of employment. Preference may be given to candidates with a valid drivers license though it is not required.

Priority Deadline for Applications is March 12 2026. Applications submitted after the priority deadline will be considered on a rolling basis. Interviews will commence in mid-March.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare guests rooms in residence halls including providing clean linens.
Act as liaison between camp/conference directors and College Events staff explaining procedures giving directions and reporting needs/concerns.
Provide on-site support for programming which include but not limited to check-in/registration signature experiences such as ice cream socials bonfires and movie nights recreation supervision front desks in residence halls and overnight on-call duty.
Set up and manage event and meeting spaces which include but not limited to tables/chairs stages technology media equipment and signage.
Work with a variety of St. Olaf campus partners to assure the success of all events.
Engage with campus guests to encourage prospective visits.
General office duties: preparing registration materials key/meal card inventory updating event brief etc.
Maintain general office and storage organization/inventory.
Serve as a resource person to summer guests by providing them with information about the college and surrounding community.
Driving: Those who meet the St. Olaf fleet vehicle driving requirements will be asked to drive campus vehicles.
This role requires lifting up to 25 lbs and standing for long periods of time.
Completing additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)
Must be a current St. Olaf student in good academic and disciplinary standing. Previous experience in hospitality event management and/or technology and media is desired but not required. Ability to lift 25 lbs and stand for long periods of time. Preference may be given to candidates with a valid drivers license though it is not required. Preference will be given to students who are available to work the duration of the position. Applicants are subject to a Deans list/Title IX check and background check.
