Primary Purpose
The Systems Administrator is directed to maintain the operation of the districts computer and information systems. The Systems Administrator will install test and maintain server hardware software and related equipment. This Systems Administrator role focuses on managing print servers leading Apple device deployments and resolving high stakes outages that keep school operations running smoothly
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma required
Bachelors Degree or equivalent related experience preferred
Apple Deployment and Management Certification preferred
Experience
- 3 years of experience performing system installation upgrades management and maintenance preferred
- 3 years of technical customer service experience preferred
- Experience in an educational enterprise environment preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills -
- Strong customer service skills required to communicate with users outside the department with tact good judgment confidentiality
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft server and Microsoft Active Directory
- Systems administration experience managing print servers and server security/patching (Windows Print Services Papercut or similar) with clear practices for backups/updates
- Enterprise-scale Apple device deployment experience (MDM DEP/Automated Enrollment Mass imaging/provisioning lifecycle workflows)
- Expert troubleshooting under pressure with documented examples resolving high-stakes outages in production/educational environments (able to triage escalate and resolve independently)
- Working knowledge of PC operating systems including Windows 10 and 11
- Working knowledge of various software applications including Adobe Creative Cloud for TeamsGoogle Workspace for Education Fundamentals Microsoft Entra ID and other Microsoft Enterprise Apps
- Skill with various versions of Group Policy PowerShell and other tools associated with managing an Active Directory Environment
- Strong working knowledge of server virtualization
- Ability to work with multiple operating systems such as Windows MacOS Linux and iOS
- Strong working knowledge of disaster recovery data safety and integrity and development of bulk import/export procedures
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain and secure the districts print server infrastructure by regularly patching systems updating software backing up data and remediating vulnerabilities in accordance with best practices
- Lead end-to-end Apple device deployment processes (imaging configuration MDM enrollment and rollout) to reduce end-user wait times
- Rapidly triage and resolve outages or urgent technical incidents affecting print Apple device services and other district critical services
- Manage administration of 3rd party cloud based applications
- Assist with documentation of standard system configurations
- Document technical procedures incident postmortems and escalation steps to improve team knowledge and response consistency.
- Proactively identify recurring workflow bottlenecks and design/process improvements to increase team efficiency.
- Monitor system health log alerts and perform preventative maintenance to reduce operational risk.
- Assist with the management of the districts Google Workspace for Education instance
- Provide user level training for systems and appropriate usage of the systems and data
- Ensure security measures are in place and all necessary auditing tools are being monitored and acted upon
- Manage multiple technology-based projects while working under general guidance
- Must communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing
- Must be able to work with a variety of people
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law State Board of Education rule and local board policy
- Dependable performance requires reliable and dependable attendance

Incumbent is on call to provide support services during off hours. Periodically scheduled night and weekend work is required. Learned physical skill is required for keyboarding and use of peripheral equipment.
Employees carry out system and network administration functions independently with a sound understanding of the interactions between hardware operating system software and network operations and the design and administrative requirements to ensure an efficient reliable secure infrastructure.
The employee is expected to bring projects to conclusion including development of operating procedures instruction and training and required documentation. Work is performed and technical decisions made with some latitude for independent judgment. Regularly perform multiple highly complex tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions and compliance with legal guidelines.
