Job Summary

The Centre for Population Genomics (CPG) is a joint national initiative of the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI). The Institutes are national leaders in genomic research with complementary strengths spanning large-scale genomics data science population health and clinical impact.

The Centre for Population Genomics is a young not-for-profit research initiative working to build a moreequitablefutureforgenomicmedicine.Wearearemote-firstgeographicallydistributedhubfor innovationingenomicsdatascienceandclinicaltranslationwithover40teammemberslocatedacross Australia and New Zealand.

THE OPPORTUNITY

TheOperationalSupportOfficerplaysanimportantroleintheflawlessexecutionanddeliveryofthe CPGs operational strategy. A key member of the Operations team this individual ensures the efficient management of CPGslogistics including onboarding offboarding policy and procedure development event planningschedulingand ad hoc administrative duties.

You will be instrumental in providing support across the CPGfacilitatingproblem solving and developing solutions with the Leadership Team and team members. Furthermore you will act as the face of CPG atbothGarvanandMCRIworkingcloselywithkeystakeholdersinbothinstitutestoensurethe operational needs of CPG are met ina timelyand efficient manner.

Toexcelinthisroleyouwillbeanadaptableorganisedanddetail-orientedindividual capableof managing multiple tasks simultaneously whilstmaintaininga high standard of operation additiontobeinganaturalteamplayeryouarecomfortablewithoperatingindependentlyand autonomously.

TheindividualwillideallybephysicallybasedeitherattheGarvanInstituteinSydneyortheMCRIin Melbourne.

CPGoperatesinaremote-first/hybridworkingenvironmentbuttheindividualwillbeto regularly attend the office as well as quarterly in-person team events. The ideal candidate will thrive in a virtual work environment and display agility by integrating a combination of working from home and the office.

Salary:Up to$80000 12% super salary packaging (depending on experience)

Employment Type:1-yearfixed-term contractfull-time

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The key responsibilities include:

  • WorkingcloselywiththeOperationsLeadyouwillbetocoordinateanddeliveronall aspects of Operations at CPG.

  • WorkingwiththeOperationsteamtoassistwiththeend-to-endpeopleoperationsincluding employee onboarding and offboarding ensuring a consistent compliant and positive experience across the employee lifecycle.

  • Assistwith developing implementing andmaintainingCPG organisational policies and procedures ensuring they are current clearly documented and aligned with business legal and cultural requirements.

  • Working with key stakeholdersplanand coordinate CPG events includinglogistics scheduling andliaisingwithvendorstoensuresuccessfuleventexecutionthatalignswiththeCentresobjectives.

  • ActasaprimaryliaisonbetweenCPGandkeystakeholdersatGarvanandMCRIensuringthe operational needs of CPG are effectively communicated and met.

  • Facilitate problem-solving and develop solutions in collaboration with both leadership and staff to address operational challenges and improve efficiency.

  • Provide support to other Operations staff and staff across the CPG teams

  • Activelyinvestinbuildingandmaintainingapositivesupportiveandhigh-performingculture within the Operations Team and CPG more broadly.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • All staffare required tocomply withGarvans workplace policies (as amended from time to time) and especially Garvans Work Health & Safety (WHS) Policy including workingin accordance withthe WHS management system at all times as safety is Garvans number one priority.

ABOUT YOU

The key skills and experience include:

  • Atleast3yearsofexperienceinoperationsrolesincludingexperienceoverseeingpolicy development and management administrative tasks and team support

  • Outstandingpeopleskillsproactiveincommunicationandcapableoffosteringrelationships across teams and institutes

  • A genuine passion and enthusiasm for CPGs mission

  • Demonstrateaproactiveapproachtooperationssupportwithakeenabilitytopinpointand resolve bottlenecks effectively

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated experience successfully working in a remote-first environment

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a complex and dynamic workload

  • Ability to thrive in an interdisciplinary team setting including biologists data scientists software engineers community engagement specialists and project management staff

  • Familiarity with SlackGSuite and Atlassian products would be beneficial but not
