Project Engineer Marine & Heavy Civil Construction (USACE)
Location: Long Beach CA Onsite Travel Required
Salary: $115000$130000 base up to 10% bonus
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support marine and heavy civil construction projects in Long Beach CA. This role is hands-on in the field working closely with superintendents and foremen to coordinate daily construction activities track production ensure safety compliance and maintain accurate project documentation. Experience with USACE projects and EM safety standards is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily field activities for marine/heavy civil construction projects
- Support superintendents and foremen with labor equipment and material planning
- Track production quantities equipment usage and progress reporting
- Enforce OSHA MSHA USACE and EM safety and quality standards
- Prepare and manage RFIs submittals change orders progress payments and as-builts
- Perform surveying tasks (hydrographic/topographic) and progress documentation
- Assist with scheduling estimating and material coordination
- May serve as SSHO or QC Manager on USACE projects
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Ocean Engineering Construction Management or related field
- 5 years of experience in marine or heavy civil construction
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Bluebeam and Microsoft Office
- Strong experience with construction document control (RFIs submittals change orders)
- Ability to obtain a TWIC credential
- Valid California drivers license with acceptable driving record
Highly Preferred
- USACE project experience
- EM training (SSHO or QC Manager level)
- Surveying experience (hydrographic/topographic)
- Experience with Hypack and HeavyBid estimating software
Work Environment
- On-site field role with out-of-town travel as required (accommodations provided)
- May include weekend work
- Physically demanding work in marine construction environments
