We are seeking a caring patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Watford starting ASAP. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children with special educational needs (SEN) reach their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
The school has a strong inclusive ethos and a well-established SEN provision supporting pupils with a variety of needs including autism ADHD social emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges and learning difficulties. Staff work collaboratively under the guidance of an experienced SENCO ensuring every child receives personalised support tailored to their needs.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis. You will help children access the curriculum develop independence and build confidence while promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 or small-group support for pupils with SEN
Assist pupils with academic tasks and learning activities across the curriculum
Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and individual support plans
Support pupils social emotional and behavioural development
Promote positive behaviour confidence and independence
Support pupils during lessons transitions and break times
Monitor record and report pupil progress to teachers and SENCO
Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to meet pupil needs
Maintain a safe inclusive and nurturing learning environment
Follow safeguarding health and safety and school policies at all times
