EYFS Teaching Assistant – Derby

We are seeking a nurturing enthusiastic and reliable EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Derby starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about early years education supporting young children as they develop key skills confidence and a love of learning.

The school has a strong Early Years Foundation Stage provision providing a safe stimulating and inclusive environment. Staff work collaboratively to ensure children are supported academically socially and emotionally with a focus on developing independence and curiosity through play-based learning.

As an EYFS Teaching Assistant you will work closely with the class teacher to support daily learning activities. You may provide 1:1 or small-group support assist with lesson preparation and help create a structured positive and engaging classroom environment where children feel confident and motivated to learn.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the EYFS teacher in delivering daily lessons and activities

• Provide 1:1 or small-group support to children as required

• Assist in planning and preparing engaging play-based learning experiences

• Observe and record childrens development to inform planning and assessment

• Encourage positive behaviour independence and confidence

• Support daily routines including snack times outdoor play and personal care

• Promote social interaction communication skills and emotional development

• Work collaboratively with EYFS colleagues and other school staff

• Maintain a safe inclusive and stimulating learning environment

• Follow safeguarding health and safety and school policies at all times

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

• Have experience working with young children ideally in an EYFS or nursery setting

• Be patient caring and enthusiastic

• Have a good understanding of early childhood development

• Be proactive adaptable and reliable

• Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
