Position Summary:
Reporting to the APAC Head of Region the General Manager ANZ will serve as the face of Illumina in Australia and New Zealand setting the strategic direction for the region and ensuring alignment across all Illumina functions. This is a strategic and empowered leadership role with full accountability for driving business success maximizing market opportunities and delivering operational resultsnot an advisory position. The GM will lead the ANZ organization to achieve accelerated growth and market penetration in both life sciences and clinical markets.
Key Measures of Success:
- Full P&L responsibility for the ANZ region including direct accountability for revenue pricing commercial margin and operating expense management to deliver consistent and predictable profitable growth.
- Revenue attainment and top-line market growth.
- Execution of aggregated strategic growth plans.
- Employee engagement and satisfaction across commercial functions.
- Customer satisfaction and strengthened partnerships.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead the ANZ region through direct leadership of customer-facing teams (sales field service & support) and indirect leadership of commercial support functions.
- Own financial and strategic outcomes for the region ensuring alignment with Illuminas global objectives.
- Develop and execute short- and long-term growth strategies including clinical market expansion and unique geographic opportunities (e.g. applied markets).
- Drive operational execution of strategic plans ensuring seamless transition from strategy to measurable results.
- Direct sales and go-to-market strategy for all Illumina products and services in ANZ including forecasting and resource planning.
- Build organizational capability across Market Development Medical Affairs Regulatory Affairs Market Access and Regional Marketing.
- Collaborate with global and regional counterparts on critical matters such as competitive positioning new product launches and governance for global customers.
- Strengthen Illuminas brand in ANZ through partnerships collaborations and leveraging the Collaboration Centre.
- Engage with government and key industry leaders to shape policy and drive genomics ecosystem development.
- Recruit develop and retain top talent fostering a high-performance culture and scalable organizational structure.
- Model integrity and compliance ensuring ethical business conduct and safeguarding Illuminas interests.

Preferred Experience/Education/Skills:
- Requires Bachelors degree or equivalent; advanced degree (Masters) preferred.
- Typically has 18 years of related experience with 12 years of applicable management experience as assessed by Illumina Executive Staff.
- 15 years in Life Science and/or Clinical Diagnostics sales/sales management preferably including capital equipment consumables and services.
- 5 years of leading high-performance sales organizations of scale.
- Strong track record of consistent performance leading teams to achieve/exceed sales targets and drive growth.
- Results and accountability-oriented mentality; adept at breaking down large goals into manageable milestones and executing with predictability and effectiveness.
- Well-developed leadership skills particularly for field-based remote sales teams.
- Demonstrated experience working in team/matrixed environments.
- Broad knowledge of all areas within relevant corporate sub-functions or operational functions.
- Depth of technical knowledge derived from experience in non-management and middle management roles.
- High-level understanding of markets and sales opportunities for the companys products.
