At Catapult we are supporting our member Mathkind Global in their search for an Executive Director. This is a hybrid role in the Triangle NC area with occasional travel requirements.
About Mathkind Global
Mathkind Global is a small innovative global nonprofit that uses mathematics education as a tool for social change. Mathkind provides teachers with professional development that transforms classroom interactions and strengthens the global learning community through collaboration.
Position Overview:
The Executive Director (ED) provides overall organizational leadership and is Mathkinds chief advocate spokesperson and partnership with the Board of Directors staff and Education Advisory Board the ED builds on past successes strengthens operations and secures resources to advance Mathkinds mission and strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
- Mission alignment and external engagement: Apply mission and values as explicit decision criteria; represent Mathkind with coherent audienceappropriate messaging; cultivate partnerships with clear guardrails and followthrough.
- Leadership and culture: Lead coach and support staff to deliver results; foster a collaborative inclusive and accountable culture; and establish effective management practices and communication routines.
- Resource development: Serve as chief fundraiser; build and manage a disciplined donor pipeline (cultivation solicitation stewardship) to diversify and stabilize revenue across individual foundation and corporate sources.
- Governance collaboration and strategic leadership: Partner with the Board to align governance priorities and organizational goals; translate strategy into measurable plans align staffing/budget to priorities and lead change with capacityinformed pacing and clear decision rights.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum five years of fundraising and strategic management experience in a complex environment; ideally at least three years at a senior managerial level.
- Demonstrated success cultivating partnerships and securing philanthropic investment (individual foundation and/or corporate).
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit governance and significant experience working with governing boards.
- Demonstrated capability leading organizations through change and growth; strong decision-making negotiation and problemsolving skills.
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university.
- Crosscultural work experience; English fluency.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree (strongly preferred).
- Spanish fluency (desired).
- Experience managing international programs/projects.
- Familiarity with educational theory and practice; background in mathematics and/or education (preferred but not required).
Salary Location & Travel:
- Salary range: $80000$120000; plus $3000 annual wellbeing stipend and 35 days PTO.
- Must be a US citizen and reside in North Carolina (approximately 85% remote; 15% in-person in Durham/Chapel Hill).
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approximately four trips per year).
