East Side Houses Early Childhood programs provide Early Head Start and Head Start services in a safe supportive educational environment for childrenages18 months to 5 years of 231 children daily from five locations the comprehensive program is designed to develop the cognitive socialemotionaland physical skills of children in a safe supportive environment. Children and families receive a broad range of educational nutritionalsocialand preventive health staff foster partnerships with families so that they can support school learning and achievement as well as advocate for their children and themselves. We expect that all staff will work collaboratively and with the community to promote school readiness while creating a safehealthyand protective environment.

Duties include but are not limited to thefollowing key activities:

  • Prepare materials for lessons demonstrations and bulletin boards.

  • Operate equipment including computers printers photocopiers and laminators.

  • Ensure that students have all materials necessaryas per lessonplanclass activities.

  • Work with students individually or in small groups for extension or remediation including students needing extra helpdue tophysical limitations.

  • Take daily class attendance andmaintainaccurateattendance records.

  • Conduct daily health checksofchildren.

  • Ensure the safety of all children under their care.

  • Support students with assistive devices and supportive technologies.

  • Coordinate with classroom teachers todeterminedaily tasks.

  • Execute therapeutic regimensindicatedbyIndividualizedEducation Plan under the supervision of specialists andteacher.

  • Adhere to accommodations in students IEP plans.

  • Lead activities designed to foster students mental physical and social development.

  • Supervise students in various settings including classrooms playgrounds and field trips.

  • Enforce school rules and policies.

  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences as requested by teachers.

  • Attend staff meetings professional development and training sessions.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GEDrequired.

  • Child Development Associate (CDA)preferred

  • At least one year of relevant experience in an educational or childcare settingworking with childrenages2-5 years.

Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8am to 4pm or 8am to 4:30pm. Workdays/hours subject to change based on ESHs program needs.
