Job Summary

THE OPPORTUNITY

Thomson Power Systems (TPS)- (aRegal Rexnordcompany) a leading manufacturer of electrical products and systems for the power generation industry with over 50 years of proven excellence. As we expand into a new facility near Arlington TX were looking for an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to work closely with our Arlington team reporting directly to the Arlington Plant Manager. The EHS Specialist will support the development deployment and continuous improvement of programs and systems that support environmental health and safety excellence. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of driving initiatives to create a culture of proactive safety awareness accountability engagement and sustainability through robust programs and processes with the primary goal of ensuring employee safety reducing lost time and liability. This key role will oversee all site EHS matters to ensure the Company meets or exceeds legislative corporate and industry requirements as well as best practice standards.

YOUR MISSION

Organizational Leadership

  • Oversee all aspects of EHS initiatives and reporting for the business (Arlington site)

  • Manage sustainability efforts to minimize hazardous/non-hazardous waste water emissions air emissions energy consumption and other related environmental compliance activities

  • Support the corporate EHS team with delivering on objectives executing plans and daily management activities and implementing corrective actions.

  • Drive a learning organization culture to tackle challenging problems.

  • Align the business toward both the long- and short-term EHS objectives.

Drive Business Performance

  • Support site objectives to achieve the business strategic plan.

  • Work with stakeholders to ensure that all key EHS controls are in place and sustained.

  • Follow-up on appropriate leading indicators to improve lagging indicators for the site and field service.

  • Complete annual Workstation Risk Assessments to identify and eliminate safety hazards.

  • Ensure all EHS-related trainings are defined and tracked to completion.

  • Follow-up and manage executing on all EHS related projects with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Collect and analyze and report on data EHS related data for corrective actions: first aid near misses and recordables.

  • Use structured problem-solving tools for preventive and corrective solutions.

  • Interface with public and government authorities on various EHS inquiries including closing regulatory agency findings on time.

  • Be the central point of contact for business leaders on EHS inquiries.

  • Co-chair and lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee.

  • Manage and maintain all EH&S records.

Talent Management

  • Deliver effective training through coaching and mentorship for all site associates

  • Support the site leadership and the corporate EHS team in partnering with the site leadership to promote a proactive safety culture focused on incident prevention and regulatory compliance.

  • Create training matrices and plan for site and field service employee including annual recurring and new hire orientation training.

  • Support with driving EHS culture and engagement.

Continuous Improvement Leadership

  • Support the site leadership and the corporate EHS team with the development and achievement of long-term EHS initiatives trainings and policies.

  • Participate in daily accountability meetings with supporting functions focused on EHS leading indicators (Tier meetings Gemba Walk).

ARE YOU THE ONE

Our future EHS Specialist will have proven experience in developing collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization. This leader must have the passion energy and intellectual curiosity necessary for a fast-paced growth-driven environment as well as strong knowledge and experience with EHS function ideally in a manufacturing environment. They must be able to work independently collaborate with local and remote/corporate teams and support the fast-growing business/site.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a major in occupational safety environmental science or a closely related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant EHS experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite products

  • Knowledge of the state and federal Occupational Health Safety and Environmental legislation and requirements (OSHA)

  • Experience with Incident Investigation methods

  • Proven record of creating a strong safety culture

  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without requiring company sponsorship to obtain or keep U.S. work authorization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Effective leadership and management skills.

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and environmental requirements

  • Strong analytical aptitude and complex problem-solving skills (structured problem-solving)

  • Experience with Claims Management Disability Management and RTW programs

  • First Aid certification

  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written (including PowerPoint presentation).

  • Strong leadership and accountability skills with the ability to influence peers (cross-function).

  • Able to multi-task with strong organizational skills.

  • Attention to details and data analysis skills.
