Job Summary

Position Announcement: NJC Grant and Scholarship Manager

Northeastern Junior College is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to serve as the Northeastern Junior College Grant and Scholarship Manager.

This position combines the functions of a grant director and scholarship manager into one full-time position at the college. The Grant Managers primary responsibility is the proper execution of grants awarded to the college in accordance with the NJC Grant Handbook. While grants are prepared by the department who will execute the grant the grant manager will assist in the planning writing and budget development related to grant applications; ensure the grant aligns with the college priorities; submit applications; serve as a resource to grant managers/primary investigators after grants are received; and monitor the execution of the grants in accordance with the terms associated with those grants. The Grant Manager also compiles and submits reporting information and billing as required by certain grants.

The college uses a software system to manage the application selection and awarding of scholarships to students many of which originate with grants. The Scholarship Manager oversees the input of scholarships into the software system and assists with the application and selection of awardees and monitors the scholarships to ensure recipients maintain eligibility. The Scholarship Manager works directly with the Executive Director of the Foundation and Alumni Association and the Director of Financial Aid in the scholarship process.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be:

  1. Oversee the execution of awarded grants by monitoring the grant primary investigators to ensure compliance with grant terms and timelines.
  2. Prepare necessary reports for submission as required by certain grants.
  3. Coordinate and facilitate the preparation of grant requests and the subsequent submission of the grant applications. Assist primary investigators in the development of budgets and budget narratives for grant applications assesses the availability of matching or in-kind funds and provides compliance with grant guidelines.
  4. Research potential grant opportunities that align with the strategic vision of the college and facilitate discussions and planning with other NJC personnel.
  5. Maintain and follow a calendar with submission and report dates along with electronic files containing grants contracts reports and other significant information.
  6. Monitor financial activity and submits billing as applicable with grant managers.
  7. Monitor grant execution and project the feasibility of full grant execution for grant managers and college leadership. Ensure grant managers and in compliance with regulations and audit requirements.
  8. Maintain the grant handbook and conduct routine training for faculty and staff and grant managers.
  9. Serve as the subject matter expert for the scholarship software assisting students faculty and staff with the scholarship process.
  10. Monitor applications and support the selection process.
  11. Ensure scholarships are distributed to financial aid and assist financial aid monitoring recipients eligibility for the scholarship

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in an appropriate field (Business Communications Education Non-Profit Work Management) or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to match college interests and strategy to potential grants.
  • Highly organized able to manage multiple grants simultaneously.
  • Knowledge and experience with MS Office products (Word and Excel) required. Must be able to build spreadsheets using formulas.
  • Detail driven ensuring grant execution is aligned with the grant directives and spending plan
  • Self-starter willing to do independent research to find grant opportunities
  • Strong communicator. Ability to work with multiple grants and offices to achieve results.
  • Passion for students ensuring scholarships are awarded fairly and accurately
  • Detail oriented necessary for the accounting of grant funds and projections into future years.

What We Can Offer:

This position works 234 days annually (0.9) with the additional 26 leave days used in June and July. Annual salary is $48000-$52000 depending on qualifications and experience.
