    Position Description
    The School Principal is an important member of the Districts management team and reports directly to the Superintendent.

    Qualifications
    Candidates should hold a Masters Degree and hold or qualify for a California Administrative Services Credential

    Commitment to maintaining and strengthening the Districts quality instructional program.
    Effective leadership experience at a significant level in a school district
    In-depth knowledge of California frameworks and curriculum alignment for K-8 schools
    Understanding of and experience with budget management
    Understanding of student attendance SARB and Truancy Court
    Effective communication skills with individuals and groups
    Experience with a wide range of staff development activities
    Experience with categorical programs at-risk students and special needs students
    Effective skills to guide problem-solving and decision making
    Experience with multicultural student populations
    Ability to monitor student policy and discipline
    Ability to supervise student and parent extra-curricular activities
    Ability to work with diverse groups of teachers
    Ability to work with Districts Administrative Team
    Excellent organizational skills
    Sense of humor
    Knowledge of or willingness to learn Continuous Improvement strategies
    Candidates should possess exemplary personal qualities essential to this highly visible leadership
    position and should hold the highest expectations for the performance of self staff and students.

    Examples of Duties & Responsibilities
    Establishes an effective learning climate
    Monitors and supports program implementation for increased student achievement as outlined in the
    school site plan
    Coordinates tasks in the organization and improvement of instruction
    Establishes and monitors student policies and discipline
    Counseling of individual students as needed
    May participate in extra-curricular activities including parent activities
    Monitors student attendance
    Evaluates educational programs
    Coordinates supervises and evaluates staff
    Assists staff and cooperatively works with specialists assigned to the school in planning organizing and
    implementing programs at the site
    Prepares and administers school budget
    Maintains a positive relationship between the school and community
