The Airplane Safety Engineering (ASE)organizations technical breadth coversairplaneand system-levelsafety analysis and ASEteamssupport new and derivative airplane designs from concept development throughpost-Amended Type Certificate (ATC) programs theASE teamsareresponsible for working with the Boeing CommercialAirplane (BCA)programsand regulatorsto ensure the scope of the program safety analysis is appropriate that teams supporting the program are aware of and following the processes for safety analysesandforexecutingairplane-level safety analyses for the -ATCsupportASEteamspartner withfunctional teams to tailor and scope updates to safety analysesimpactedbypost-ATCchanges to airplane design and execute updates to airplane-level safety analyseswhereimpactedbythese changes.

The selected candidate will managefirst-lineengineeringmanagerswithin ASEwhose engineering teamssupportactive commercial product development projectsand/orpost-ATCprogramprojects. These managers and teamsperformcritical airplane technicalanalysiswith high visibility across Boeing. The selected candidate willplay anintegral roleinensuring safeairplaneoperations and design.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Managemanagersof engineering teamsperforming technical activitiesin the areaofintegration of safety processes across multiple functional teams
  • Develop andmaintainrelationshipswith BCA Program Enterprise Safety Safety Management System (SMS)andfunctionalteam leaders as well as collaborate with regulators
  • Create andmaintainaculture ofopen communication andcollaborationwith focus oncontinuous improvementand knowledge transfer
  • Promote talent acquisition and retention within the team by ensuring career development of direct reports promoting employee recognition and building a team culture that improves employee satisfaction
  • Establish and implement integrated team plans ( daily scrums dashboards) to ensure business technical and customer requirements are achieved

This position is expected to be 100% selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Everett WA or Renton WA.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology) chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer science
  • 5 years of experience in an engineering role
  • 2 years of experience in an engineering management role
  • 2 yearsof experience in leadership either formally or informally leading teams in a cross-functional environmentwith a wide variety of aviation stakeholders in diverse venues worldwide.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Schedule flexibility to enable effective coordination and engagement with a globally distributed team.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • Strongmotivation to prioritizeretainingdevelopingand growingteam members
  • Experiencewith leading technical cross functional teams working across organizational boundaries and ensuring an inclusive environment
  • 3 years of experience in an engineering management role
  • 3 years of experience in leadership either formally or informally leading teams in a cross-functional environment
  • Engineering background in Safety Engineering with experience applying System Safety industry bestpractices (4761 and ARP4754)
  • Engineering background inSystems Engineering
  • Experience managing Engineering Unit Members (E-UMs) or Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs)
  • Prior experience with airplane development programsor post-ATCairplane support
  • Engineering background in at least one of the following disciplines:Aerodynamics /Flight SciencesLab / Ground /Flight TestInteriorsPropulsion orAirplaneSystems(e.g. Flight Deck / Human Factors) and an understanding of certification processes
