Job Summary
Finance Director
Chicago IL (hybrid; in-office presence expected initially)
Calibrate has been retained by Marshall Gerstein & Borun LLP to recruit a Finance Directora pivotal leader who will support day-to-day operations while elevating the firms financial systems reporting and analytical capabilities. Partnering closely with the CFO and firm leadership this role will assist with ongoing system transitions strengthen operational discipline and build capacity for deeper insight and long-term planning.
Ideal for a collaborative finance leader who thrives in professional services this position adds depth and flexibility to a strong Finance team and plays a key role in the firms succession planning for the Finance Department.
The role in action:
- Lead strategic financial projects with precision and continuity extracting value from the Aderant implementation to ensure data integrity system alignment and operational rigor.
- Elevate the firms analytical muscle delivering timely decision-ready insights that strengthen pricing strategy client profitability associate performance visibility and dashboard reporting.
- Expand strategic bandwidth across the leadership team assuming ownership of budgeting performance reporting and key operational processes to enable senior leaders to focus on planning and change management.
- Preserve the firms collegial service-oriented culture while embedding accountability balancing flexibility with the structure and discipline for sustainable growth.
We are seeking candidates who:
- Bachelors degree in finance accounting or related field
- CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred
- 8 years of progressive finance experience in a professional services environment (law firm or consulting preferred)
- Deep understanding of economics & financial drivers of professional services organizations
- Working knowledge of partnership accounting and related taxes
- Experience supporting system implementations or operational transitions (Aderant is a plus)
- Strong analytical skills combined with sound judgment
- High emotional intelligence adaptability and interpersonal effectiveness
- Clear approachable communication style
- Ability to balance structure with flexibility in a service-oriented culture
