LREI is seeking a full-time Middle School Science Teacher for a leave position teaching seventh and eighth grades with a start date of September 1 2026 and an end date of December 18 2026.
Overview of the position:
The Science Teacher will teach four sections of middle school science: two sections of seventh grade and two sections of eighth grade. Seventh and eighth grade science courses emphasize inquiry systems thinking and real-world application with content aligned to existing curriculum standards and assessments. The successful candidate will:
Familiarize themselves with and thoughtfully enact the existing science curriculum while bringing their own interests expertise and questions into the classroom.
Collaborate closely with science department colleagues and grade-level partners.
Serve as an advisor for a group of middle school students.
Participate fully in the life of the Middle School and the broader LREI community.

Qualifications Sought

Is reflective about their practice and engages in professional development and leadership opportunities.
Is guided by an ethic of care and understands learning as connected to the development of the whole child.
Demonstrates a clear commitment to social justice equity and cultural competence and works effectively with diverse students families and colleagues.
Communicates clearly and thoughtfully with students families and colleagues both formally and informally.
Approaches teaching with a growth mindset and a willingness to innovate.
A masters degree in education with a focus on science and at least three years of successful teaching experience are preferred though candidates with alternative pathways into the profession are encouraged to apply.
Salary Range
Annual full-time salary of $70782.90 - $135870.31 (depending on experience and education) prorated for time worked.

Founded in 1921 by Elisabeth Irwin (a contemporary and colleague of John Dewey Caroline Pratt and Lucy Sprague Mitchell) The Little Red School House has been at the vanguard of
