The Bureau of Asset Management is responsible for oversight of the investment portfolios of the five New York City pension systems. The Public Markets Middle Office Analyst will report to the Group Head of the Public Markets Middle & Back Office team. The Public Markets Middle Office Analyst will perform functions to support the public markets investment staff throughout the lifecycle of the investment relationship.
Duties and responsibilities of the Public Markets Middle Office Analyst include but are not limited to the following:
- Leading meetings and discussions related to Public Markets Middle Office functions
- Transferring funds to and from investment managers for initial funding portfolio rebalance events and terminations
- Onboarding investment managers including account opening and all internal and external documentation requirements
- Serving as a point of contact for the custodian and investment manager when transitioning assets due to rebalance termination events and other middle office related functions including but not limited to adding trading markets completing KYC documentation requests and tax reclaim documentation
- Serving as a point of contact for class actions inquiries related to data research trading activity and supporting documentation.
- Working with global tax consultant on matters such as tax reclaims withholding tax rates capital gains tax allocations and the setup of local tax agents as necessary.
- Performing reconciliation of public market account holdings and related trade activity
- Performing operational due diligence for potential public market investment managers
- Maintaining the accuracy of all public investment attributes in the account master database
- Monitoring portfolio defaulted and worthless securities and instructing the write-off of those securities.
- Monitoring terminated accounts and suggesting action plans to close the accounts in the future
- Creating and maintaining written process documentation key performance Indicators trackers for the group
- Performing other related duties and functions as may be required.

Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in accounting business administration economics finance law mathematics and/or statistics and one year of satisfactory full-time experience in investment activities of a governmental agency financial institution or brokerage firm; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full-time experience in investment activities of a governmental agency financial institution or brokerage firm.
Special Note:
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II individuals must have in addition to meeting the minimum requirements at least one additional year of full-time experience in investment activities of a governmental agency financial institution or brokerage firm.

To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level III individuals must have in addition to meeting the minimum requirements at least two additional years of full-time
experience in investment activities of a governmental agency financial institution or brokerage firm.
