Position Criteria:
- Valid Iowa teaching license
- 2 - 3 years experience as a Special Education Teacher Instructional Strategist Level 1 or II or other related field
- Masters degree in Educational Leadership or related field
- Administrative license & Evaluator Approval Certification through Iowa Board of Educational Examiners
- Crisis prevention training preferred but able to obtain after hire
Performance Criteria:
- Ensure FAPE LRE and FERPA are in compliance with Iowa Code for students with IEPs.
- Collaborate with teacher leaders and administrators in designing developing and implementing professional learning that is aligned with district and building initiatives.
- Provide support to instructional strategists and special education teachers for the development of IEPs and related programming for students with disabilities.
- Attend IEP meetings as district level support as requested by admin and IEP teams. District representation at IEP meetings for students tuitioned out non-public etc..
- Ensure appropriate materials to support specially designed instruction are available and implemented.
- Maintain a collaborative work environment with staff and agency personnel (Human Resources transportation nursing food and nutrition Heartland AEA staff IVRS etc.)
- Maintain current knowledge of special education law as well as best practice in the field of special education.
- Assists Director of Student Services with Section 504 coordination (support bldg. leaders with questions/issues maintain current 504 protocol per Federal requirements provide district training and oversight)
- Assists Director of Student Services in coordination of Extended School Year Programming for district special education students
- Assists with recruiting interviewing and recommending highly qualified staff
- Evaluation of designated staff
