This role is designed for an experienced accounting professional who is ready to take on broader ownership operate closely with senior leadership and grow into full responsibility for Mission Wealths accounting and core controller function over the next 1218 months.

You will work closely with the Director of Finance to modernize Mission Wealths accounting foundation transition ownership from external partners to internal leadership and build scalable processes that support long-term growth.

Mission Wealth has grown rapidly and our finance platform is entering a new phase of maturity. Over time this role will assume increasing responsibility for accounting operations controls and close discipline eventually leading the Core Finance function as a Controller.

This is not a maintenance role. It is an opportunity to help design implement and ultimately own the accounting infrastructure of a growing national firm.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelors degree in accounting 5-8 years of experience in finance and accounting preferably within wealth management or financial services and a CPA designation is preferred. We are looking for someone with strong knowledge of GAAP and sound accounting judgment. A Clear communicator who partners effectively with finance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Skills and Requirements as Accounting Manager:

Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience preferably within wealth management or financial services.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial management practices.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel including advanced functions pivot tables and spreadsheet management.
Experience with financial reporting and cash flow management.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively liaise with both internal teams and external partners.
Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Familiarity with wealth management industry practices and regulations.
Familiarity with cloud-based accounting platform CRM Client portfolio reporting platform and Expense management platform
Strong project management experience.

Responsibilities as Accounting Manager:

Serve as the primary liaison between Mission Wealth and external accounting tax audit and capital partners ensuring timely accurate financial support as the firm scales.
Take increasing ownership of the monthly close process including general ledger management reconciliations and preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements
Oversee core transactional accounting functions including accounts payable (and related system implementation) corporate card activity and expense reporting.
Maintain capital and equity-related records including equity administration through Carta and associated financial reporting requirements.
Support the development of scalable internal controls audit documentation and financial governance appropriate for a growing private equitybacked organization
Assist in managing the firms treasury function ensuring disciplined cash management appropriate liquidity levels and scalable processes aligned with the expectations of a growing private equitybacked organization.
Develop and implement strategies for cash optimization by managing the movement of funds between FFB savings and checking accounts. Partner with Finance leadership on budgeting forecasting compensation-related accruals and strategic finance initiatives by ensuring clean and trustworthy accounting inputs.
Track and manage raise and hire information for employees including salary adjustments and hiring processes.
Maintain key financial schedules supporting bonus programs and organizational planning ensuring accuracy and auditability. Manage and execute various finance-related projects as directed by leadership ensuring timely completion and alignment with company goals.
Lead cross-functional finance projects as needed contributing to the ongoing build-out of a modern scalable accounting and core finance function.
Take initiative to improve the financial operating rhythm of the firm with a clear trajectory toward future leadership of the accounting organization.

Job Type: Full-time salaried non-exempt

Location: This position is based at our Santa Barbara office and is a hybrid role requiring two days in the office each week.

Salary: $100000 plus annual bonus paid in quarterly increments
