Position Overview
The Dean of Students supports students academic and social-emotional growth by promoting a positive school culture and high expectations for behavior and engagement. This role oversees discipline attendance and student support services while working closely with the principal and teachers to align behavior systems with curriculum and instruction. The Dean bridges student life school culture and learning so every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and monitor school-wide behavior and discipline systems.
Promote a positive culture using PBIS restorative practices and SEL.
Support teachers with classroom management and consistent procedures.
Build strong relationships with students families and staff.
Lead student support teams and work with counselors and interventionists.
Coordinate assemblies activities and events that strengthen school culture.
Track discipline attendance and engagement data to guide action plans.
Be a visible leader during arrival lunch recess and dismissal.
Mission & Leadership
Uphold the schools mission values and strategic priorities.
Provide visible leadership in daily routines and major school events.
Collaborate with the administrative team to support students and staff.
Lead the division when the division head is absent.
Support advisory programs and student leadership initiatives.
Working With Students
Build strong trusting relationships with students.
Oversee student programs (clubs field trips leadership opportunities).
Center diversity equity and inclusion in student life.
Support students emotional and mental health needs.
Be present in common areas and student spaces.
Coach student leaders and co-lead student council.
Provide individual and group support for students.
Foster a caring engaging and student-centered environment.
Working With Faculty & Staff
Build respectful partnerships with faculty and staff.
Collaborate with counselors nurses facilities and athletics.
Serve as a liaison between students and teachers.
Help onboard new students and staff.
Support hiring and evaluation with administration.
School Community
Strengthen community through inclusive practices.
Help develop the student handbook with the principal.
Lead assemblies advisory programs and extracurriculars.
Communicate regularly with families and staff.
Support schedule adjustments when needed.
Discipline & Attendance
Lead a fair restorative and transparent discipline system.
Communicate expectations and the code of conduct clearly.
Mediate and resolve conflicts.
Coordinate discipline meetings with students and families.
Manage daily attendance and follow up as needed.
Curriculum & Instructional Support
Collaborate with the principal and coaches on instruction.
Use academic and behavior data to guide supports.
Help provide PD on engagement and classroom management.
Support alignment of curriculum and behavior systems.
Qualifications
Masters in Education Counseling or ABA.
Arkansas license preferred.
5 years teaching and/or leadership experience.
Strong background in behavior systems and school culture.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
