Responsible for implementing and sustaining the facilitys Health and Safety management programs managing the health and safety activities for the plant to ensure regulatory compliance and protecting human health and the environment.

Provide pro-active leadership and guidance for a strong safety culture in all areas.
Develop and maintain close working relationship with manufacturing personnel.
Develop and manage a facility safety strategy to include but not limited to: Job hazard Assessments Plant Inspections Accident Investigations Hazard control and Prevention Reports
Tracking and verification of corrective actions
Auditing the Environmental Health and Safety programs
Maintain the accident records and files in support of the annual OSHA 300 log and any other OSHA requirement. Evaluate cases to decrease the accident rate and severity using safety assessments industrial hygiene sampling and following OSHA regulations and Company Guidelines.
Manages employee illness and injuries. Manages workers compensation claims from the initial incident through claim finalization and closure. Works closely with HR and claim management representatives to ensure effective claim management.
Effectively tracks and reports all employee illness and injury report statistics matrices and report data. Provides management with monthly and annual occupational health and safety reports.
Responsible for the Hazard Communication program including the SDS database.
Be the liaison between the site and 3rd party environmental and occupational safety regulatory compliance agencies.
Assist and guide internal and external customers in Safety Health and Environmental compliance including recommendations corrective action plans special projects new products and complaints or concerns.
Conduct necessary assessments inventories and inspections in support of environmental health and safety regulations.
Manage the Process Safety Management Program. This includes the annual evaluation of the program NH3 system inspections training system integrity and mechanical/functional control testing and evaluation. Effectively coordinate the local process safety management team in accordance with our PSM and RMPP program guidelines and requirements.
Supervise the environmental compliance program to ensure Federal State and local County compliance.
In concert with our Corporate Health and Safety Department develop robust programs and procedures in compliance with OSHA and Saputo for the following GISOs: Emergency Response Plan Personal Protective Equipment Control of Hazardous Energy Confined Spaces and Respiratory Protection and Hearing Conservation. Identify and select the best and appropriate levels of protective equipment for face eyes hand ears foot and body as applicable by hazard and level of exposure.
Develop a Safety Internal Audit Checklist to comply with OSHA standards and Saputo guidelines.
Manage the Ergonomics Program educate the employees and coordinate workstation assessments.
Evaluate environmental problems to develop methods and equipment to maintain regulatory compliance. Stay current with emerging environmental control technology and trends (BACT).
Supervise medical surveillance for chemicals respiratory protection and hearing conservation programs.
Oversee the Health programs such as medical surveillance physicals wellness program first aid supplies and equipment Bloodborne Pathogens and employee First Aid/CPR training.
Chair the Safety Committee and coordinate all Safety Committee activities.
Provide technical support to outside resources or contractors for compliance.
Manage the Health and safety audit process and act as the liaison with regulatory agencies. Maintain effective working relationships with governmental agencies.
Develop and facilitate training for new employees periodic and annual health and safety training. Coordinate the tailgate training program to educate employees on health and safety injury prevention practices and topics.
Ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations including air quality wastewater stormwater hazardous waste and spill prevention requirements
Maintain and manage environmental permits (e.g. air permits wastewater discharge permits stormwater permits) including renewals modifications and compliance documentation.
Manage facility waste streamsincluding hazardous waste universal waste and used oilensuring proper accumulation storage labeling disposal and documentation in compliance with all applicable regulations
Prepare review and submit regulatory reports such as: hazardous waste (RCRA DTSC) wastewater and air emissions
Lead environmental audits and inspections (internal and regulatory) including corrective action plans and follow-up.
Investigate environmental incidents/spills lead root cause analysis and ensure timely reporting and corrective action
Support sustainability efforts including waste reduction recycling programs and environmental risk reduction strategies.
You are best suited for the role if you have the following experience skills and qualifications
Three or more years experience in an industrial manufacturing setting preferably food manufacturing with major concentration of job duties relating to environmental health and safety.
Experience in environmental compliance within manufacturing industrial utilities or construction environments with emphasis on compliance reporting permitting and impact assessment.
Bachelors degree in Health & Safety Management or in a related field and/or the equivalent experience.
Strong understanding of Cal/OSHA regulations and Workers Compensation claim mitigation and management.
Hands on experience in successfully leading coaching motivating and developing a team environment within safety; strong communication skills customer service skills and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Available to work on all shifts (when needed) to resolve issues and/or evaluate employee environment
Experience managing environmental permits and agency interactions.
Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations such as:
Clean Water Act / NPDES
RCRA & DTSC hazardous waste management
Hazardous Materials Business Plans

Salary Range: $89695 - $117725
