Job Summary:
The Director of Adult Education Programs is responsible for supervision maintenance and continuous improvement of the GED/ABE/ASE/ESL College Preparation programs that will meet the basic academic needs and employability of eligible persons oversight and administration of the Pearson Vue GED Testing Center and for maintaining and organizing records at Cowley College Arkansas City and outreach programs.
Position Duties:
- Design implement and evaluate all adult education programs to ensure they meet the needs of adult learners and adhere to KBOR standards and best practices.
- Coordinate and maintain a team approach with the College and Adult Education staff and work collaboratively on program planning.
- Coordinate and approve all operating decisions of the Adult Education and College Preparation Program at all Cowley College sites including: promotion training scheduling and program development.
- Prepare and maintain forms data collections required reports and performance measures from all Cowley College Adult Education and College Preparation programs.
- Develop and maintain a flexible schedule for all GED testing centers by serving as the chief examiner for testing.
- Recruit onboard supervise and evaluate Adult Education staff.
- Prepare required data complete grant applications and adhere to the requirements of all program grants.
- Assist the CFO in preparing the semi-annual and annual budgets and monitoring of the fiscal account.
- Coordinate with KBOR Staff and attend necessary and beneficial workshops and staff meetings.
- Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders by promoting partner programs student services and making referrals.
- Maintain involvement and memberships in adult education organizations.
- Maintain the continuity of programs in the absence of Adult Education staff.
- Plan and prepare all GED graduation ceremonies and advisory council meetings.
- Maintain the appropriate credentials and certifications as required by state.
- Submit purchase orders approve orders and receive supplies and equipment.
- Maintain courteous professional and effective working relationships with employees vendors and/or any other representatives of external organizations.
- Comply with all College policies and procedures
- Assist the Vice President of Academic Affairs by performing other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of all phases of Adult Education.
- Maintain training and certification with Pearson Vue.
- Ability to organize coordinate and work effectively within a team approach.

Required Education Background:
- Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred.
Required Experience:
- Experience in adult literacy adult education and/or federal or state grant administration or related areas.
Supervisory Requirements: Adult Education Staff.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time; ability to move freely around the campus and outreach centers; ability to lift up to 20 pounds; ability to bend stoop reach and grasp as required to perform responsibilities; ability to drive motor vehicle; and ability to work on the computer for long periods of time.
Work Environment:
Work performed in an office environment. Additional work may be performed in a correctional facility setting.
