Summary:
Craig Technologies has an opening for an Electrical Mechanical Technician at The NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston Texas. The primary function of this position is to support the development of the electrical/electronic/electromechanical components mechanical assembly of ground and flight hardware systems that will primarily be used in maintaining the health and well-being of crew on the International Space Station Orion and other NASA/commercial will perform tasks including but not limited to design support cabling component identification part selection mechanical assemblies and drawing mark-up in support of assigned projects. Incumbents will perform other assignments or duties as required.
Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the Assembly and Fabrication reviews with the responsible engineer for the project hardware
  • Review and modify in-process sheet to assemble Electrical and mechanical hardware
  • Responsible for compliance with Safety Health and Environmental plan; must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the Companys safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel
  • Responsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan policies and procedures
  • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the Company
  • Responsible for completing all assigned training
  • Fabricate flight and non-flight hardware as required
  • Troubleshoot electronic hardware identify malfunctions and repair/replace as necessary
  • Receive detailed instruction on job requirements and work under supervision. The assignments may include electrical and/or mechanical assembly prototyping and troubleshooting
  • Perform task assignments using technical skills and experience
  • Use independent judgment but seek supervisory direction when needed
  • Have frequent contact with engineering and quality assurance professionals
  • Provide support to projects in the form of test support parts and materials research paperwork generation and completion purchasing support and other support as requested
  • Know and adhere to Company policies procedures and work rules and demonstrate a strong work ethic
  • Excellent skills in both written and verbal communication
What You Bring:
Experience leading mechanical and electrical hardware. You use your experience and judgment to complete the mechanical and electrical assemblies with testing the electronic hardware as required. You comply with KBRs Safety Health and Environmental Plan Quality Plan and all safety policies and procedures and complete all assigned training.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Associate degree in Electronics from a Technical Institute Junior College or Community College or a minimum of 5-yrs of equivalent experience
  • Must have experience reading drawings assembling cables (e.g. wire stripping/dressing contact crimping cable assembly etc.) soldering (through hole and SMT) and performing electro-mechanical assembly (e.g. routing cables using torque tools.)
  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
REQUIRED SKILLS/TRAINING:
  • Able to be certified in workmanship areas such as soldering crimping wire harnesses mechanical assemblies torquing etc. as required by NASA standards to perform work on Flight equipment
  • Must be able to pass a vision test including color blindness
  • Must complete a Soldering test
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Collaboratewith project engineers on related hardware
WORK LOCATION
This position is expected to be 100% on site and in person. Occasional travel may be required.
