How will you make an impact

The BioProduction Group provides biotechnology and biopharmaceutical customers with innovative single-use bioprocessing systems that support the development and manufacturing of lifesaving vaccines and therapeutics.

As an Electrical Engineer II focused on Automation & Controls you will contribute to the design implementation troubleshooting and continuous improvement of automated manufacturing equipment. You will apply strong hands-on technical skills in PLC programming robotics motion control and electrical systems while supporting capital projects and sustaining operations.

This role is ideal for an engineer who has demonstrated advanced diagnostic capability and is ready to expand technical depth within a collaborative fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What will you do

  • Support automation projects from design through commissioning including panel design review code development FAT/SAT support and equipment startup
  • Perform advanced hands-on troubleshooting of PLCs HMIs motion systems robotics and industrial networks
  • Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and reduce downtime
  • Develop modify and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs under established standards
  • Support integration of new equipment into validated manufacturing environments (IQ/OQ/PQ support)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing Quality Maintenance and Engineering
  • Contribute to development of electrical documentation SOPs and engineering reports
  • Support compliance with applicable safety electrical and regulatory standards

How Will You Get Here

Education and Experience

  • Minimum Required Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM.
  • 2 years of relevant automation/ electrical controls experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform advanced hands-on diagnostics and system troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment

Knowledge Skills & Abilities Preferred:

  • Controls & PLC Programming experience (Allen Bradley Logix 5000 / Studio 5000 / RSLogix platforms PLC and HMI programming
  • Basic understanding of Safety PLC concepts
  • Experience with AOIs UDTs motion groups and structured programming
  • Strong understanding of electrical theory and power distribution
  • Electrical panel layout review and component selection support
  • Troubleshooting AC/DC circuits analog/digital signals
  • Familiarity with EtherNet/IP and industrial communication protocols
  • Basic network configuration and troubleshooting
  • Exposure to industrial or collaborative robotics (Fanuc ABB UR preferred)
  • Integration of legacy equipment with modern control systems
  • Familiarity with instrumentation such as RTDs thermocouples load cells LVDTs
  • Understanding of machine safeguarding and industrial safety fundamentals
  • Exposure to FAT/SAT and validation environments (IQ/OQ/PQ preferred

  • Clear technical communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and support project timelines
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical SolidWorks Electrical (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

Physical Requirements

Varying work conditions may include office environment fully gowned clean room development/fabrication shop requiring appropriate PPE sitting and standing for extended periods and occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
