Role Overview
As a Cable Splicing Technician you will play a key role in maintaining and expanding HCTCs telecommunications network. Responsibilities include:
- Splicing copper and fiber optic cables in indoor and outdoor environments
- Installing copper and fiber terminals on various cable sizes
- Managing slack and grounding cables in neat splice cases
- Performing mid-sheath splices and assisting with construction lineman duties
- Creating and interpreting splicing schematics and diagrams
- Documenting staking sheets and supporting project timelines through inspections and design
- Performing assigned cutovers
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of relevant telecom construction experience preferred
- Specialized skills training/certification may be required
Certificates Licenses Registrations
- Must have a valid Class C Texas drivers license
- If relocating to Texas from another state or country must have a valid drivers license equivalent to a Texas Class C and obtain a Texas license within 30 days
- Must maintain a valid drivers license and be insurable under HCTCs standard auto insurance policy
- Must have and maintain or be able to obtain a Class A Commercial Drivers License
- Pole Climbing Certification (or ability to attain within 6 months of hire) required
Schedule
Full-time 40 hours per week. Occasional after-hours work may be required.
