Annual Salary Range (Teacher First Compensation Model):

  • Professional: $60000
  • Advanced: $70000
  • Exemplary: $80000
  • (Salary band determined through Kairos Teacher First Compensation performance framework.)
  • Plus a $1500 signing bonus for the 2025-26 school year.
Position Summary
The Middle School History Teacher at Kairos Academies is a mission-driven educator who brings social studies to life through rigorous hands-on learning. This role combines content expertise with the Kairos instructional approachempowering students to think critically about the world understand historical and civic systems and grow as self-directed learners and citizens.

Core Responsibilities
Instructional Excellence
  • Design and implement engaging standards-aligned units in World History U.S. History Geography and Civics that promote historical thinking and civic understanding.
  • Facilitate project-based learning document-based questions (DBQs) debates simulations and performance tasks that connect past events to contemporary issues.
  • Use data from MAP NWEA and internal assessments to differentiate instruction and close achievement gaps.
  • Maintain accurate timely gradebooks and provide frequent actionable feedback on student writing and discussion.
  • Integrate primary and secondary sources technology and collaborative learning to build analytical and communication skills.
Student Relationships & Mentoring
  • Serve as a Kairos Coach mentoring a pod of students weekly to build executive functioning goal-setting and personal accountability.
  • Foster a positive inclusive classroom environment that promotes belonging persistence and intellectual curiosity.
  • Communicate proactively with families about academic progress successes and areas for improvement.
Collaboration & Professional Growth
  • Partner with content team members to align curriculum assessments and best practices across grades.
  • Participate in coaching cycles team meetings and professional development aligned with Kairos learning model.
  • Share instructional resources and strategies with colleagues to support whole-school improvement.

Driver Goals (2025-26
  • MAP Proficiency:60% of students meet or exceed proficiency in social studies benchmarks.
  • NWEA Growth: 70% of students demonstrate expected or above-expected growth in reading and social studies strands.
  • Mentoring Participation: 75% of students meet coaching engagement and reflection benchmarks.
    On-Track Gradient Learning Classes: 85% of students maintain on-track progressacross social studies competencies.
Key Indicators of Success
  • Evidence of rigorous engaging instruction aligned with Missouri Learning Standards and Kairos Graduate Profile.
  • Consistent use of data to inform instruction reteaching and targeted supports.
  • Classroom culture characterized by inquiry respect and student ownership of learning.
  • Growth in student independence and civic understanding as measured by coaching data and student feedback.
  • Active contribution to team planning problem-solving and schoolwide improvement efforts.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelors degree in History Education Political Science or related field.
  • Valid Missouri Substitute Certification
  • Demonstrated success supporting middle school student growth and engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal organizational and communication skills
  • Eligible to work for any employer in the United States.
Preferred:
  • Missouri Teaching Certificate (Social Studies 59) or eligibility to obtain upon hire.
  • Masters degree in Education Curriculum & Instruction or related field
  • Experience in project-based learning inquiry-based instruction or culturally responsive pedagogy.
  • 3 years of teaching experience in middle grades with measurable student growth outcomes.
Work Schedule & Environment
  • MondayFriday 7:45 AM 4:00 PM
  • Occasional evenings or weekends for family engagement tutoring or school events
  • Dynamic classroom setting requiring consistent interaction supervision and adaptability
  • On-site role at Kairos Academies in St. Louis MO
