Learning Specialist - focus on Literacy Start Date: August 24 2026The Learning Project is a uniquely small elementary school centrally located in Bostons Back Bayneighborhood. The Learning Projects community remains itsbiggest strength and core to that community is its dedicated faculty and staff who are committed to theschools mission its families to supporting one another and to their own personal and school seeks a Learning Specialist who has experience with and a passion for teaching literacy. Thisis a full time in-person Learning Specialist provides targeted literacy support to students in grades K6 throughevidence-based instruction and collaboration with school staff and families. This role involves regularlycollecting and analyzing student data to inform instruction track progress and adjust interventions asneeded. Using this information and input from teachers the Learning Specialist plans and implementsindividualized and small-group literacy interventions as well as offers push-in classroom supportwhen appropriate to strengthen student access to the curriculum. Strong communication skills areessential as the specialist works closely with classroom teachers to align goals and strategies andpartners with families to share progress recommendations and resources that support literacydevelopment at home. Additionally the Learning Specialist is a contributing member to the schoolsStudent Support Team also consisting of the School Counselor and the Director of Academics Faculty& Inclusion which is responsible for coordinating individualized support for all students and familieswith particular academic behavioral and social-emotional with elementary age children is a must along with a commitment to the values andprinciples of this school as described in our Mission responsibilities include:- Contributing to the Student Support Team.- Assisting with academic data collection/analysis.- Supporting students with academic needs (mostly in the realm of literacy but also occasionally math) through designing and implementing 1-on-1 and small group sessions and push-in support as appropriate- Communicate and partner with teachers and families about student needs and progress- Collaborate to provide advice support and resources to teachers with their instructional practice when appropriateQualifications:- Training or certification in Orton-Gillingham (or comparable program) is preferred- Extensive experience with reading instruction in the elementary grades- Proven background in structured literacy intervention methods- An understanding of various learning disability profiles diagnoses and needs- Experience reading and analyzing Neuropsychological Evaluations- Ability to connect with students with a variety of backgrounds- Strong time management and organizational skills- Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skillsThe salary range for this position is $65000 to $850000 commensurate with apply please email the following to Application cover page - found at Cover Letter3.
