PRIMARY FUNCTION: The primary function of a trailer technician is to do preventive maintenance on box flat and tank trailers. Also general repairs to electrical/lighting systems suspension bumper abs/foundation brakes s-cam replacement wheel ends air systems to include automatic tire Inflation system.
DESCRIPTION: A TT2 trailer Technician must be able to diagnose electrical suspension ABS issues and other mechanical failures and make needed repairs once diagnosed. He must be able to repair issues in the lighting or electrical system properly diagnose and repair air leaks perform wheel end inspection and maintenance perform a brake shoe replacement and perform general repairs to the body and roof of the trailer. Replace doors repair or replacement scuff rail.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Understand How to Safely use Jacks and Stands
- Understand How to use a Torque Wrench
- Understand How to use a Dial Indicator
- Understands how to check and adjust Trailer Alignment
- Understand How to Measure Brake Stroke
- How To Identify Irregular Tire Wear
- Understand How to safely use Power and Air Tools Grinders Torch Air Chisel etc.
- Understand How to Use an Air and Hand Rivet Gun
- Understand How to Test Pop Off Valves on Pneumatic and Chemical Tanks
- Must Have Confined Space Training
- Should Be Able to Weld with a Meg Tig and Stick welder
- Understands How To Use Multi Meter
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- On Job Training as a Trailer Technician ( 2 to 3 years)
- Must Be Able to Read and Interpret Instructions
- Must Be Able to Read Write and Communicate Effectively
- Understands Basic Math
- Air System Certification
- Brake Certification
- Annual Federal Inspector Certification
- Federal Brake Inspector Certification
TOOL REQUIREMENTS:
- Full Set of Hand Tools Both Standard and Metric as well as Air Tools
- Complete Roll around Toll Box Top and Bottom Sets
- Torque Wrench
- Multi Meter
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Be Physically Able to Lift 85Lbs
- Frequently Climb Ladders
- Work on Ladders Stagings and Stand Long Periods of Time
- Work Outside in all Weather Conditions
Driver License Required:
- Must Have Current Florida Driver License and Good Driving Record.
- Will be required to pass drug test and physical and a background screening.
