Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

TheCivil Engineer Supervisoris responsible forcoordinating activities of capital improvement projects roadway design traffic engineering operations construction management and design section activities. Coordinate activities with outside agencies and internal customers. Supervises a technical staff. Monitor project budget. Make presentations to various partiesregardingconstruction activities. Prepare progress reports. Collect data. Review designs and constructionplansto ensure they conform to standard practices.

SCHEDULE:

This positionoperatesoneither afive-dayorfour-day work week (Monday-Thursday) working in a hybrid capacity with remote work and in-office work as needed.

COMPENSATION:

Hiring Range: $118000 - $140000 USD Annually

Compensation will bedeterminedbased on educationexperienceand skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Performs professional and technical engineering work in the complex design installation management and evaluation of public streets drainage systems traffic systems and utility systems within the county. This positions primary responsibilities include reviewing plans specifications and technical reports for conformance to Jefferson Countys standards and specifications for construction of public infrastructure. Prepares project bid materials and cost estimates which includes evaluating bid qualifications and proposals and works with stakeholders on project designs concepts andtimeframesfor project completion.Manage contracts with technical and engineering consultants to complete projectrelated-tasks.

  • Works with stakeholders both internal and external to the county which includes attending neighborhood meetings working with intergovernmental organizations interacting with utility companies other agencies and departments elected officials and consultants and contractors.Assistin preparation of budget proposals. Estimate budget for projects and operating costs.

  • Oversees and directs design and construction coordination meetings involving capital improvement projects. Lead theprojectdevelopmentand managementprocesstoensure thetimelyapproval and completion of projects. Manage workload and responsibilities ofdirect subordinates.

  • Supervises staff in area of responsibility. Administers and makes recommendations for routine personnel matters affecting subordinates including recruiting interviewing hiring training assigning scheduling granting leave appraisals and taking corrective action. Conducts performance evaluations and communicates short- and long-term goals andobjectives. Submits personnel records and reports as required by the county.Assistsand advises subordinates as necessary resolves problems as non-routine situations arise and ensures adherence toestablishedpoliciesproceduresand standards. Communicates changes in policy and procedures to direct reports and implements them as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:Minimum fiveyearsworkexperience

Education:BachelorsDegree in Civil Engineering

License/Certifications:Professional Engineer Licensein State of Colorado

*Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.

Preferred knowledgeskillsand abilities:

  • Supervisory experience

  • Masters Degree

  • Strong written and oral communication

  • Strong leadership mentorship and/or supervision skills

  • Independent critical thinking and analysis

  • Demonstrating initiative innovation and resiliency

  • Ability to articulate clearly and effectively to varying levels of customer

  • Strong understanding ofFederal/state/local policies
