Description
POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: 3rd ShiftWaste Water Technician
DEPARTMENT:Waste Water
LOCATION:Ottumwa
SALARY CLASS:NonExempt
HOURS: Midnight - 10AM (Tuesday- Friday)
Responsibilities:
- Working in wastewater area for daily operational adjustments equipment operations and recording data.
- Must be able to obtain an Iowa Grade 1 wastewater operator license within 18 months.
- Monitoring operating equipment & report any equipment problems.
- Monitor and control plant functions through computer information and manual controls.
- Recording equipment data.
- Perform and interpret laboratory tests and the analysis of wastewater at various stages of treatment.
- Maintain accurate logs and record data required for compliance and reporting.
- Operate sludge press equipment.
- Perform routine housekeeping and cleanup of facilities.
- Must be able to operate forklift as needed.
- Adjustment of treatment chemicals as required.
- Comply with safety procedures.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
- Cover co-worker vacations as needed
- Work some holidays as needed (rotating with co-worker
Qualification:
- Good communication skills.
- Previous experience helpful but not required.
- Mechanicalskills
- General Math Skills
- Working with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft word for data entry
- Self-Motivator
- Able to work independently and unsupervised as required
- Able to work outside year round as needed
- Able to climb stairs
- Good attendance record(Less than3.0points for internal candidates)
