Job Summary

Burrow Global is seeking to hire an experienced SCADA Infrastructure Technologist for a two-year assignment in Detroit MI.

Candidates for this position will be responsible for overseeing designing implementing managing documenting and supporting the organizations infrastructure components including network storage process control systems servers IoT devices radio and data communications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for provisioning installing/configuring operating and maintaining infrastructure including Distributed Control Systems (DCS) Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) systems radio and network hardware and software and related peripherals.
  • System administration for the organizations DCS and PLC servers including servers workstations historians and controllers
  • Consult coordinate and communicate with business units and Information Technology (IT) staff providing solutions and recommendations that integrate with current and future databases applications and infrastructure architectures.
  • Responsible for capacity planning and management security planning and management data management systems maintenance and performance management of one or more systems. Participate in planning for hardware software and infrastructure.
  • Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the system and infrastructure.
  • Responsible for administering maintaining and supporting the organizations network and system infrastructure and security including installation documentation administration and maintenance activities. Responsible for reviewing all technical network and system designs and ensuring that they meet business and technical requirements and network and system infrastructure and enterprise standards.
  • Plan design and implement additions upgrades replacements or retirements of network and communications infrastructure.
  • Perform new software releases upgrade evaluate and install patches and resolve network and communications hardware and software-related problems.
  • Determine requirements design install and maintain network and communications infrastructure.
  • Perform shift work which includes day afternoon night weekend and holiday assignments.
  • Follow security and safety policies and procedures in carrying out work duties.
  • Provide on the job training.

RELATED JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist other IT staff and IT management as needed with overflow activities involving the support and maintenance of networks servers storage and data center facilities and the installation decommissioning and relocation of related IT equipment.
  • Perform related work duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Incumbents for this position may be required to perform team coordination activities within the functional unit.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Water and/or wastewater business functions treatment processes and distribution systems is highly desired.
  • IT network infrastructure and systems including sensors programmable logic controllers (PLCs) human-machine interfaces (HMIs) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems
  • Making complex programming changes PLC Operation Interface Terminals HMI graphics control logic DCS and Ovation systems including the development of new displays equipment installations and workstations
  • Multi-protocol systems and extensive implementation experience with multi-vendor network systems
  • Network and server security and monitoring
  • Cybersecurity best practices
  • Virtualization concepts storage devices such as SAN NAS etc.
  • Concepts practices and procedures (COBIT and ITIL) including Change Management Software/Systems (Rockwell Asset Center) Development Life Cycle for application development and management
  • Hardware software application database and network environments
  • Principles and techniques of application development and languages
  • Principles and techniques of systems analysis design and development lifecycle
  • Installation and maintenance of hardware software application database and network components
  • Microsoft Office Suite including Word Excel and PowerPoint

  • Perform new software releases and upgrades; evaluate and install patches and resolve SCADA and DCS hardware and software related problems
  • Determine requirements; and design install and maintain SCADA network and DCS communications infrastructure

  • Provide technical support resolving incidents including creating and closing work orders planning and scheduling of work orders.
  • Maintain the PLCs Ovations and HMI; maintain the interfaces with instrumentation devices and upgrades as needed
  • Perform work-related duties of a SCADA Technician and Instrumentation Technician (EICT-I) as assigned
  • Investigate user concerns and complaints to determine gaps in system efficiency; provide direct assistance in the solution of unusual or difficult maintenance problems involving instrumentation and DCS systems

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (position requirements at entry)

  • Associates degree in computer science Information Technology or related discipline
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a SCADA Technician Network Administrator

OR

  • High School Diploma or GED and
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a SCADA Technician Systems or Network Administrator

AND

  • Possess a technology-specific entry-level certification (i.e. Comp TIA Networking Storage or Server) or combination of related work experience and education
  • Meet all the requirements to advance to Infrastructure Administrator Level 2 within two (2) years of Level 1 designation

Other Requirements:

  • Must have a valid Michigan Drivers License and the ability to drive a motor vehicle on all terrain.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States is required
  • Ability to work irregular hours to commute to the organizations facilities and work sites and respond to after hour emergencies and on-call responses
